Tests for Certification (PRAXIS)

All students participating in LCSC teacher education programs and who seek teacher certification must successfully complete specific standardized tests as described below.

Our teacher education program policy reinforces this state mandate by requiring that ALL Praxis II exams necessary for initial certification (and endorsement) be successfully passed prior to the final semester of student-teaching internship.

The Praxis tests are a product of Educational Testing Service (ETS). All registration, fee payment, scoring and dissemination of results are handled by ETS online at www.ets.org/praxis. The LCSC Lewiston campus is a test site and usually facilitates four of the seven test dates during the academic testing year which runs from September to July.

Please be advised to schedule test dates that allow for ample scoring and reporting times that will not interfere with registration for internship course(s).

The following Praxis II tests are required for LCSC's Undergraduate teacher education majors:

Elementary Education

The State of Idaho requires individuals seeking certification in elementary education to "...meet or exceed the state qualifying score on approved elementary content area and pedagogy assessments..." and requires individuals seeking certification in secondary education to "...have a qualifying score of an approved content area assessment in any area(s) for which the certificate or endorsement (s) will be applied".
