Individuals who already hold a valid Standard Instructional Certificate may wish to add subject area endorsements.
In accordance with the Idaho State Department of Education's policy for adding endorsements, individuals must complete a minimum of 20 credits of coursework in the endorsement area, successfully pass the related Praxis II content assessment, provide proof of performance; i.e., competence in teaching the subject area, and secure a signed Institutional Recommendation from the participating college/university.
The following areas of endorsement are approved for Lewis-Clark State College:
English as a New Language
Mathematics - Basic (teaching math subject to Algebra I)
Mathematics - Standard (teaching all math subjects)
Online Teacher (K-12)
Physical Education (6-12 OR K-12)
Special Education (K-12)
(Other endorsement areas may be available at another Idaho college or university.)
To add an endorsement in one of LCSC's approved areas, individuals must complete the following:
*Individuals with less than 3 years teaching should contact the LCSC Division of Teacher Education office.
**Certain endorsement areas specifically require a methods course. Contact the LCSC Division of Teacher Education Office for more information.
After successful completion of all items, individuals will receive an Institutional Recommendation to include with their Idaho application for revising a certificate.
