Educational
Talent Search (ETS)
Educational
Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded
program serving students aged eleven to
twenty-seven, focusing on those whose families
are on a limited income and whose parents did
not graduate with a four year college degree.
The program targets “educationally talented”
students, any who have the desire and the
potential to seek post high school education,
which includes two and four year colleges and
technical schools. ETS helps students better
understand their educational opportunities and
options. Therefore, all students are encouraged
to apply.
The Lewis-Clark Valley ETS program, whose
offices are located in Talkington Hall on the
Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) campus, serves
Lewiston and Clarkston. The Clearwater Valley
ETS program, also located in Talkington Hall,
serves Orofino, Kooskia, Kamiah, and Lapwai.
Nationwide, over 387,600 individuals are
enrolled in 471 ETS projects. The LCSC ETS
projects plan to serve 1200 students in fifteen
schools in Northern Idaho and Southeast
Washington. In addition, the projects will serve
a limited number of adults in the covered areas
who have an interest in completing a GED or
entering a post high school education program.
The aim of each ETS program is to increase
students’ potential to attend post high school
education by providing the following free
services:
• Study skills
• Tutoring
• Career development activities
• Time management skills
• Organizational skills
• Goal setting
• Academic advice
• Scholarship searches
• Campus visits
• ACT/SAT preparation
• Assistance with financial aid and admission
application processes
• Information on colleges, vocational schools,
and technical schools
Please contact a school counselor for more
information about ETS. You may also call the
ETS office at (208) 792-2767 or (800) 298-0733.
These Educational Talent Search projects are
100% federally funded at $220,000 annually.
