Richard announced that anyone interested should inform Kathie Wilcox, who is on the Search committee for the new Provost, if your Division has any particular traits they are interested in seeing a new Provost possess.

a.   Faculty Association Treasury Report:  Account balance is about $1200 less than before, since that amount was spent for the Boise legislative trip.  Wayne Carroll and KenWareham, Education; Chris Riggs, Social Sciences; Gerry Ramey, Business; Victor Kriss, Natural Science; Patty Leonard, Classified Staff; Harold Crook, Humanities; and Richard Moore, Chair went from LCSC.  They met with about 80 legislators at lunch, and encouraged them to make no further cuts to education and reminded them that education is important for building a healthy economy in Idaho.  The governor gave a talk and encourages support of his sales tax increase.  There were about 30 faculty altogether there from the various institutions, and once again LCSC had one of the largest representations.  We need to continue to send a good size group.  Moore recommended that in the future, we should always have at least one professional technical and one nursing representative for the event.  Some members of the State Board of Education attended the lunch, also.  The lunch was upbeat and successful.  We spent about $500 on lodging and about $600 on the luncheon.  The rest of the money went to the van and per diems.

b.   Reports:

Good of the Order:    1)  Discussion about SRI’s:  some faculty had good return rates and good results, some did not.  Some faculty shared concerns about having to bribe students to do SRI’s.  2)  Barbara Kramer is investigating concerns about decreasing health benefits.

Adjournment:  Meeting was adjourned at 4:35 by Richard Moore, Chair.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Sheila Watkins, Secretary
