Budget Liaison Committee
Report to Faculty Senate
Feb. 24, 2005

1)                   The Committee met on Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 to begin deliberations regarding faculty priorities for the LCSC budget for AY2005-06.  Faculty salaries continue to be of critical concern.  Specific concerns include the fact that faculty can only expect two promotions during, sometimes long, LCSC careers and the static amount of promotion increments over the past five years.

2)                   Information was sought and obtained from the LCSC Budget Director on the percentages of faculty, classified staff and administrative salaries and increases over the last five years.  We are continuing to work with the Budget Director to obtain more specific information on LCSC salary trends.

3)                   The Committee is discussing and reviewing various institutional salary “step plans” with a goal of presenting such a plan for consideration by the faculty and administration.

4)                   Committee members are seeking to identify primary concerns re: salaries and the budget from division members.  The Committee will meet on March 3^rd to continue discussion and finalize our recommendations to the administration regarding faculty salaries for AY2005-06.
