Curriculum Report to Senate
January 27, 2005
The Curriculum Committee has approved the
following 85 proposals.
BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY SERVICES DIVISION
Add new course Allied Health Organization
Leadership (AHLTH 251): T05-187
- Justification: This new course
would allow students to receive credit for participating in
allied health professional organizations such as the National
Health Occupations Student Association.
Add new courses Multimedia Web Applications
(CITPT 144/344) and Web Database Technologies (CITPT
213/413): T05-210, T05-209
- Justification: These two courses
were recommended by the Web Development advisory board as
necessary skills for students. Web Database Technologies
will replace Spreadsheets and Databases (CITPT 212) in
content knowledge. The upper division options allow for
students to engage in advanced work and special projects under
the direction of the instructor.
Change in program requirements for the Web
Development AAS/ATC and the Web Authoring Certificate: T05-211
- Justification: This proposal
incorporates several of the new course titles and new courses
proposed including Web Database Technologies. It also
expands core program options in COMM.
Change credits and title on Computerized
Accounting (ACCPT 214): T05-183
Delete course Computerized Accounting II (ACCPT 215):
T05-186
- Justification: These two proposals
will allow for one course offering with variable credit levels.
This change will better meet the needs of the students and allow
them to focus on the computerized accounting system appropriate
for their career goal.
Add a new course Applied Written
Communication (GNBPT 185): T05-214
- Justification: This new course
would formalize a special topics course that has been previously
offered.
Change in course title for Professional Math
Applications (GNBPT 202): T05-202
Change in program requirements for Medical Office ATC: T05-205
Change in course title & catalog description for Web Server
Administration (CITPT 115) and Introduction to Web
Development (CITPT 116): T05-207, T05-208
Add Business Computer Skills (CITPT 110)
to Medical Receptionist and Medical Transcription TC programs:
T05-206
Expand core program choices in MATH & PSYC/HRPT
for Medical Assistant A.A.S.: T05-204
EDUCATION DIVISION
Change variable credit offerings for
Professional Internship II (6-12 & K-12) (ED 460, ED 461): A05-193,
A05-194
- Justification: The State of Idaho
Teacher Trainee Alternative Certification Program requires
participants to enroll for three credits of supervised
internship each semester for four semesters. The change will
allow the course offerings to accommodate this request.
NATURAL SCIENCES DIVISION
Add Statistics (MATH 254) to the list of
mathematics courses that satisfy the General Education core:
A05-304
- Justification: All public
institutions in the state allow this course to be applied to the
mathematics requirement in the General Education core.
NURSING DIVISION
Add core COMM and MATH options to the PN
program: A05-222, A05-223
Add Developmental Psychology (PSYC 205) to the PN program:
A05-227
Delete Introduction to Allied Health (ALHTH 130) and
Medical Terminology (MEDPT 170) from PN program: A05-224,
A05-225
- Justification: These changes
increase the General Education core to 16 credits and the
overall program credits from 60 to 61. In its inception, ALHTH
130 & MEDPT 172 were courses that could be completed in high
school, thus giving students the ability to take college level
courses for credit in the program.
Change in course prerequisites and catalog
descriptions for Nursing courses: A05-233
- Justification: This series of
minor administrative changes allows a more natural progression
through Nursing courses as well as generating catalog
descriptions that accurately describe course content.
STUDENT SERVICES UNIT
Change prerequisites on Native American
Awareness (SD 124/125, SD 224/225): A05-242
TECHNICAL & INDUSTRIAL DIVISION
Delete course Applied Math (ENGTE 123):
T05-241
- Justification: This course has
been replaced by MTHPT 123.
Change course titles and catalog descriptions
for all ISATI prefix courses: T05-237, T05-238, T05-243 through
T05-300
- Justification: These minor
administrative changes were necessary to establish formal course
titles for the ISATI prefix courses. Previously, they had been
subtitled.
Change the Information Systems Analysis AAS,
BAS and BAT programs to reflect new ISATI titles and catalog
descriptions: T05-301, T05-302, T05-303
