- Minutes of 3/7/05 approved
- Honors recognition at graduation
- This issue is regarding nursing students who
petitioned for honors recognition at graduation based on completion of
20 resident credits rather than the current 32 resident credits
required by the College.
- Discussion on this issue had been tabled at the
previous meeting. The issue was brought off the table for further
discussion. It was agreed that standards should not be weakened to 20
credits. An alternative which would allow honors recognition to be
computed using the student’s cumulative GPA was discussed.
- Motion passed: The committee moved,
seconded, and passed a motion to recommend a one time exception for
the calculation of honors recognition to be done using the student’s
cumulative GPA, including transfer credits. This policy would apply
to all students, not just nursing students for the 2005 graduation
ceremony.
- To address this issue long-term, Faculty Affairs
will make a recommendation to the full Senate later this spring on
revising the entire honors policy. This would bring us in line with
other Idaho 4-year institutions.
- SRIs
- The committee spent considerable time discussing
and editing a proposed change to the SRIs.
- The revised course evaluation will be taken back
to the divisions for comments before submitting it to the Senate.
- Meeting adjourned
Respectfully submitted,
Henrik Brosten
