Senate
Snapshot
1/18/08
Welcome back to school!
Brian Christenson and I attended the first two days
activities during Higher
Education Week in Boise on 1/14-15. On Monday
evening we co-hosted the
Legislative Reception along with BSU, ISU, UI and
NIC. It was a great
opportunity to meet and greet legislators, higher
education faculty and
administrators from the other schools. The
legislators were interested in our
priorities here at LCSC and we also learned about
some issues they are looking
at this legislative session. The President’s JFAC
presentation on Tuesday
morning was very well received by the committee.
Remember the Idaho Human Rights Day activities on
1/21. The event starts
at 6p at Pioneer Park. A procession will end at the
LCSC Activity Center
where Rev. Happy Watkins will speak at 7p. Thanks to
Chris Riggs for letting
us know about this special event.
Many of you have been involved in the NorthWest
Colleges and Universities
Accreditation self-study preliminary work. The first
group work has been
completed and group leaders have reported to the
Provost. The next phase
will be writing the first draft of the self-study.
The Provost will give group
leaders a template to follow. If you were part of a
group you will be hearing
more about this next phase soon. The group meetings
are getting underway
now.
All of our Senate meetings this semester will be in SGC
room 41.
Early this semester I would like to review the
Senate priorities we developed
last fall during our retreat. If you chair or are on
a committee of the Senate
please take a look at the priorities to determine
the progress we have made
and next steps.
