• The President would like to extend her thanks to all faculty who emailed
  her with preferences regarding the new Nursing Health Sciences (NHS)
  building site. She will be making the decision along with the executive
  committee. We should hear next week.
   
• Inform your colleagues that there is free professional development
  training for faculty. Visit the Professional Development Training web site
  at www.lcsc.edu/pdt to schedule free training. Training includes grant
  writing and researching, MS Outlook, MS frontPage, Diversity in Education
  and other classes.
   
• Dean Pharr attended a NWCCU (Northwest Commission of Colleges/
  Universities) meeting recently and emphasized the importance of services
  to outreach and on campus students be consistent; assessment is the
  key word at NWCCU – they will be looking at institutional assessment and
  general education assessment as well as program assessments; and the
  importance of a user-friendly website. As you know, our visit will be in
  October, 2009.
   
• The accreditation groups (some of you are members) will start collecting
  data and evidence of compliance soon.
   
• Students Services is interested in helping transfer students new to
  campus. They want to start a transfer mentor student team with previous
  transfer students helping new transfer students with tips and advice. If
  you know of a former transfer student who would be good at this please
  call Student Services.
