Senate
Snapshot
3/7/08
The Student Course Evaluation PG Committee
is developing a distance
learning (online) and paper/pencil version of the
evaluation tool. You can
look at the committee’s progress so far by checking
out their webpage at
http://www.lcsc.edu/faculty/sce/sce_task_force_2007-08.htm.
The Petition Committee
is seeking a new member. The committee reviews
student petitions (late withdrawals, re-admission to
College, etc). The
committee is comprised of the Academic or Prof Tech
Dean, a Division Chair,
Three academic faculty and one P/T faculty. An
academic faculty member
is sought from HUM, BUS, ED, LIB or NHS. Let Susan
know if you are
interested or know someone who would be willing to
be nominated for the
position. The committee members serve for four
years. Current members
include Dean Pharr, Lynn Mathers, Ed Miller, Leanne
Parker and Bill Frei.
The newest member will be voted in by the Faculty
Senate.
The General Education Committee is seeking a
new member. Nominees
from SS or BUS are eligible. Two eligible faculty
members from T/I and NHS
have been nominated thus far. The new member will
serve a five year term.
Please contact a current committee member (listed on
the Faculty Senate
webpage) for information about the committee. The
election will occur by
a ballot vote at the next Faculty Association
Meeting.
The Faculty Senate/Association Chair-elect
position is a good way to
be a part of faculty governance at LCSC. The
Chair-elect will be voted in
at the May Faculty Association meeting. Contact
Susan Odom or Brian
Christenson if you are interested or wish to
nominate a colleague.
All state employees can anticipate a 3% change in
employee
compensation for the next fiscal year. We also
will be seeing a change
in our employee portion of health benefit costs. The
actual change in the
cost to employees will vary and the range and
details of the change is still
unknown. The Budget Liaison Committee will make a
compensation allocation recommendation to the Senate
at the next meeting. That recommendation
will go to the Compensation Review Committee and
then to the President.
