At our next Senate meeting on 4/24 we will be
reviewing the Constitution
that was introduced last meeting. Please look at
it – Lynne B. has sent it out
as a web link.
I have sent a request to the Division Chairs
about needed new members for
the Hearing Board (all Divisions), Standing
Tenure/Promotion Review Committee
(Academic Div – NHS and HUM) and Standing
Promotion Review Committee
(P/T). Senators: please ask your colleagues if
they are interested in serving
on one of these committees. All of these
committees will meet only if
necessary, but we must be prepared if the need
arises. If you or a colleague
is interested let your Division Chair know. They
will pass on the information
to me. Thanks.
State Board of Education meeting 4/17. There
were several proposals
brought forth from our Administration: the Port
of Lewiston lease for the skid
pad, the potential purchase of Clearwater Hall
and three properties on 4th
Street, and potential sale of the York House.
Congratulations
to LCSC Faculty who received Idaho Technology
Incentive Grants from the SBOE. An impressive
portion of the 1.4 million
dollars available to higher education will be
coming LC’s way through the
high quality grants submitted by these
colleagues!

Recently there have been additional residential
areas around campus that
will be restricting parking for LCSC students
and staff. Talk to your Chair
about the newest parking restrictions.

LCSC implements E911 system for Lewiston campus:
What’s different?
When someone dialed 9-911 from a campus phone,
emergency personnel
saw only the college’s address. It was up to the
caller to describe the best
route for first responders to find the person in
distress. Now – an emergency
call from campus will display the caller’s
internal campus location, building,
floor, and room number. Idaho does not require
that businesses and educational
institutions have an E911. Despite the lack of a
legislative mandate in Idaho
LCSC was able to investigate E911 after the
installation of a new Nortel PBX
system for LC in January, 2007. Safety of
students, employees and visitors
was the deciding factor for implementing E911.
LCSC Administration approved
IT’s recommendation for E911 and the system went
into production on 4/1/08.
