SCE Task Force Meeting
Minutes

Provost Visit

The Provost thanked the Task Force for its work and assured members
that their recommendations would be given serious consideration.

Course Related Questions

The Task Force voted in favor of including the following questions related
to the course (vs. the instructor) on the SCE:

·     The required textbook helped me to learn the course content.

·     Course materials other than the required textbook helped me to learn
the course content.

The Task Force generally agreed that a question along the following lines
should be on the SCE, but did not agree on how to word it:

  • I came to the course with the knowledge and/or skills to be successful.
  • I came to the course with the required knowledge and/or skills to be successful.
  • Do you think there should be prerequisites for this course?
  • Do you think the prerequisite, if any, for this course were
    necessary?

The Task Force also discussed the following possible items but did not vote
to accept or reject
                                                                          

·     This course is required for my major. Yes/no  (put w/syllabus question)

·     A question on whether the course was an elective?

·     A question whether the course was for Core?
