Education Scholarships

Barton Family Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established to help students who plan to enroll full time at Lewis-Clark State College. Students must have completed 26 credits at LCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.0, be accepted into the education division and be Idaho residents. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. There is one annual award available for $1,000. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1. Education Incentive Contracts

This loan forgiveness program encourages outstanding Idaho high school graduates to pursue a degree in education, and provide two years of service, after graduation, to the state of Idaho. Students who receive this award will have a total of eight years to complete their two years of service. If all conditions of the contract are met, the students entire cost of tuition and fees will be forgiven. To be eligible for this award, applicants must graduate from an Idaho high school within two years of receipt of award and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students must provide grade transcripts. Students are strongly encouraged to apply for financial aid. There are three annual awards available. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1. Herbert Howe Perpetual Scholarship

The intent of this scholarship is to support aspiring teachers attending LCSC. To be eligible for this award, applicants must have a GPA of 3.30. be admitted to the Teacher Education Program, be enrolled for 12 credits and have completed at least 12 upper division education credits. To apply, applicants must complete the Herbert Howe cover sheet and provide a written self-assessment (3-8 pages), demonstrating evidence of scholarly work, personal achievements, goals and documentation of educational experience, There are at least two annual awards up to $1,500. Francis Ernest Millay/Ruth Stark Millay Memorial Scholarship

The intent of this scholarship is to assist outstanding students who have declared elementary education as a major at Lewis-Clark State College. Applicants must have completed 26 credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and enroll for 12 credits. Applicants must be accepted into the education division and be an Idaho resident. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. The annual awards are variable. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1. Military Order of the Purple Heart

This scholarship is available on a competitive basis to students committed to pursuing a career in special education. To be eligible for this award, applicants must have a GPA of 3.30, be accepted to the Teacher Education Program, be enrolled for 12 credits and have completed at least 12 upper division education credits. Applicants must complete the cover sheet, provide written self-assessment, three letters of recommendation, personal letter, and updated college transcripts. There are two to four annual awards up to $1,500. The deadline for applying is March 1. For more information, contact the Division of Education.

Rex Tolman Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to outstanding Ricks College graduates who wish to transfer to LCSC and major in education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5, and enroll for 12 credits. There are two annual awards of $500. Deadline for applying is March 1.
