My financial aid was suspended...how do I appeal?

My Grade Point Average (GPA) is below a 2.0.

  • If you believe you have extenuating circumstances you can appeal.  See What are potential extenuating circumstances I can appeal?
  • Complete the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form for Reinstatement in its entirety.
  • This form is located at www.lcsc.edu/financialaid/financial-aid-forms 
  • Meet with your advisor and develop a 2-3 semester plan.
  • You and your advisor must sign the forms.
  • Submit the completed packet to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Incomplete packets will not be reviewed.

What are potential extenuating circumstances I can appeal?

  • Family problems
  • Medical issues
  • Personal problems
  • Housing problems
  • Death or birth in immediate family
  • Job related issues

What is considered acceptable documentation?

  • Medical documentation, including a doctor’s release to return to class.
  • Birth Certificates
  • Lease agreements, rent receipts
  • Letters from 3rd party individuals who know your situation
  • Death Certificates, memorial cards, obituaries
  • Letter from employer

My completion rate is below 67%.

I have reached my maximum credits.

  • Complete the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form for Maximum Credits in its entirety. 
  • Meet with your advisor and determine all remaining required credits to graduate. 
  • Only list required courses on your Academic Plan.
  • You and your advisor must sign the form.
  • You will need to submit the completed packet to the Financial Aid Office.
  • Incomplete packets will not be reviewed.

I have submitted my appeal...now what?

  • Your appeal will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee.
  • You will receive, in writing, the results of the review.
  • If your appeal is approved, see My appeal was approved...now what?
  • If your appeal is pending, you will receive a letter identifying the documentation being requested and the deadline for submission.
  • If your appeal is denied, see My appeal was denied by the Financial Aid Office....now what?

My appeal was denied by the Financial Aid Office...now what?

  • You may appeal the denial to the Campus Petition Committee
  • You must complete the Student Petition Form located at  http://www.lcsc.edu/registrar/forms-applications/
  • Your form with any documentation must be submitted 24 hours prior to the meeting.
  • Submit all paperwork to the Admissions Office in Reid Centennial Hall Room 102.
