Financial Aid

Can I borrow more loans funds?

How do I apply for additional funds?

  • Check with the Financial Aid Office to determine your eligibility.
  • Complete and submit the Loan Request portion of the Financial Aid Request Form for the amount you would like to borrow.
  • The form is located at www.lcsc.edu.financialaid/financial-aid-forms or can be picked up in the Financial Aid Office.
  • If you have not already done so, you will need to complete your Loan Agreement (MPN) and Entrance Counseling at https://studentloans.gov.
  • You will receive a Revised Award Letter notification by email.
  • Be sure to print, sign and submit the Revised Award Letter to the Financial Aid Office.

I have borrowed the maximum allowable in Federal loans, but I need more money and am considered a dependent student (parental information required on the FAFSA).

  • Your parent(s) may be eligible for a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Student (PLUS)
  • Your parent(s) complete a PLUS Application at https://studentloans.gov. They log into the web site using their information and FSA ID.
  • If approved, your parent(s) would need to complete the Loan Agreement (MPN) on that same website.
  • If denied, you would be eligible for additional unsubsidized loan funding (see How do I apply for additional loan funds).
  • You also have the option of applying for a private/alternative education loan with an outside lender/bank. You will need a creditworthy co-signer.
  • You would apply directly with the lender/bank. Examples: Wells Fargo or Navient (formerly SallieMae)
  • LCSC has no affiliation with these lenders/banks nor does LCSC promote one lender/bank over another.
