How can I apply for scholarships?

I'm interested in scholarships at LCSC...how do I apply?

The majority of scholarships require only the General Scholarship Application. For those that require a separate application see: Scholarships that require a separate application...what do I do?

  • Visit www.lcsc.edu/financialaid/scholarships-and-waivers to see the list of scholarships offered through LCSC that require the General Scholarship Application.
  • Browse the categories and descriptions.
    • If a scholarship requires you to demonstrate financial need, you must have a FAFSA on file by the March 1 Priority Deadline.
  • Use the checklist to apply for your desired scholarships.
  • Complete the General Scholarship Application in its entirety.
  • All scholarships require the general essay to be answered. Additional essays may be required for some scholarships.
  • If submitting the paper version, be sure it is signed.
  • If submitting online, be sure to attach your essays/additional information.
  • The General Scholarship Application must be submitted by March 1.

I've submitted my General Scholarship Application...now what?

  • If you submitted your application online, you will receive notification via email once your application is received.
  • If you submitted the paper version of the application, you can go to WarriorWeb and see if it has been received by clicking on “My Documents”.
  • If a scholarship requires you to demonstrate financial need, you must have a FAFSA on file by the March 1 Priority Deadline.
  • The scholarship committees will review and make scholarship decisions by the end of March.
  • You will be notified by mid-April of scholarship decisions. If awarded a scholarship, you will receive an Award Letter, Conditions of Award and Scholarship Contract (if applicable) in the mail. You must sign and return all included documents to the Financial Aid Office by the deadline listed in the paperwork.
    • If your scholarship requires a thank you note, you must include it with the other required documents.
    • If you were not awarded a scholarship, you will receive a letter notifying you of this decision.

Will I be considered for a merit-based scholarship?

Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on your cumulative grade point average (GPA) or test scores (ACT, SAT or RSAT)

  • Visit www.lcsc.edu/financialaid/scholarships-and-waivers/merit-and-academic/ to see if you are eligible for consideration.
  • To qualify, you must be admitted at least tentatively by March 1 (December 1 for Early Consideration) Admissions Office. To ensure you are considered, submit your transcripts, test scores, etc. to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.
  • Merit-based scholarship recipients will receive an Award Letter, Conditions of Award and Scholarship Contract in early March (early December for Early Consideration); those must be returned by the deadline in the paperwork.

Scholarships that require a separate application...what do I do?

  • Scholarships not included on the General Scholarship Application must be applied for using the provided separate application.
  • Read through the description and the requirements.
  • These scholarships may have different deadlines and/or essay requirements.
  • Submit the scholarship application to the address provided on the application.

Where can I get information on outside scholarships on the LCSC website?

I have received a scholarship from an outside donor...what do I do?

  • You must notify the donor of your college selection.
  • The donor should notify LCSC’s Financial Aid Office with your name and the name and amount of the scholarship. They must also indicate which semester(s) to apply the scholarship.
    • Awards over $500 will be split between fall and spring semester unless otherwise noted by the donor.
  • The donor can send a check to the Financial Aid Office or to Student Accounts.
  • The Financial Aid Office will then list the funds on your Award Letter.
  • Student Accounts will post the funds to your account.
  • You need to notify the Financial Aid Office of any scholarship funds sent directly to you.
  • If the check is co-payable to you and LCSC, you will need to endorse it prior to funds being disbursed.
    • If funds are sent directly to LCSC, Student Accounts will contact you if your signature is required.
