How can I use my financial aid for Study Away?

What do I need to do with the Financial Aid Office before I go?

  • All official study away programs must be approved by the Study Away Coordinator through the LCSC Study Away Approval Form prior to your study away term or financial aid will not be available for your program.
  • Your LCSC Study Away Approval Form will need to be approved by the Financial Aid Office by meeting with the Associate Director of Financial Aid. During your meeting you will discuss how your final class schedule, enrollment confirmation and financial aid posting to your account will be handled while you are away.
  • Make sure you have completed all necessary financial aid requirements (verification if selected, completion of your Award Letter/Conditions of Award and your Loan Agreement (MPN) and Entrance Counseling if you are accepting loans).

Are there additional scholarship opportunities available for study away?

  • There are scholarship opportunities available. They are based on where and when you are studying. For more information and application materials contact the LCSC Study Away Coordinator in International Programs.
  • There are scholarship opportunities available through the General Scholarship Application. You will need to apply by March 1. Visit www.lcsc.edu/financialaid/scholarships-and-waivers for more information.

What do I need to do with the Financial Aid Office when I get to my study away destination?

  • Once you have registered for your courses, be sure to update the Study Away Coordinator with your final schedule (remember you must be registered for at least 12 credits towards your degree to receive financial aid for study away).
  • Enrollment confirmation will be based on the courses listed on your LCSC Study Away Approval Form until this update is complete.
  • Have each of your instructors email the Financial Aid Office to confirm that you have begun attendance in their class. You can have them email finaid@lcsc.edu. Be sure they include:
    • Your name
    • Course title, course and section numbers
    • Date(s) of attendance
  • Verify on WarriorWeb that your financial aid has posted to your Student Account once enrollment in all courses has been confirmed.

How do I get my instructors to confirm my attendance?

  • You can have each of your instructors for the courses listed on your Study Away Form email finaid@lcsc.edu to confirm that you have begun attendance. Be sure they include:
    • Your name
    • Course title, course and section numbers
    • Date(s) of attendance
  • You can also request a copy of the Financial Aid Office's Enrollment Verification Form that you can have each of your instructors sign off on. To request the form be sure to contact the Associate Director of Financial Aid. Once completed, you can:
    • Scan and email it to finaid@lcsc.edu
    • Fax it to (208) 792-2063
    • Mail it to: LCSC, Financial Aid Office, 500 8th Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501, USA
  • Remember, your financial aid for study away courses cannot post to your LCSC Student Account until the Financial Aid Office has received confirmation of attendance from each of your instructors.

 

What do I need to do once my study away term is over?

  • Have your official transcript of study away courses sent to the LCSC Registrar's Office.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress with the Financial Aid Office must be completed before any future financial aid can be disbursed. Satisfactory Academic Progress cannot be determined until your official transcript has been received by the LCSC Registrar's Office.
