General Scholarships

Be sure to first read the submission instructions relating to the version of the General Application you are submitting (paper or online). Only one General Application is required per student. If completing the paper version, be sure to include the checklist indicating the scholarships for which you would like to be considered.

General Applications, paper or online, must be submitted by the March 1 deadline.

All scholarships require a General Application, unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description. For scholarships requiring a separate application, it will be listed below the description.

TO BE ELIGIBLE, STUDENTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING BULLETED SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS.

The "21" Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by Mrs. Greeta Paris during her lifetime and has been supported by the many friends and family members who made gifts in her memory.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Be an incoming freshman
  • Preference:
    • Students from the Culdesac-Lapwai area
    • Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Alumni Student Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by donations from alumni and friends of Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Have a parent or grandparent who is a graduate of LCSC, or its predecessors; LSNS (Lewiston State Normal School), NICE (North Idaho College of Education), or LCNS (Lewis-Clark Normal School)
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • Students showing involvement on-campus and/or in the community

Orval and Lovilla Austin Endowed Scholarship         

  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be pursuing a degree
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Robert (Jack) Bowler Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established in memory of Robert (Jack) and Pearl Bowler.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a four year degree
  • Be an incoming freshman
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Students receiving an athletic scholarship are not eligible to apply

The Diana Brown Endowed Scholarship          

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be a non-traditional student
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • A student who is a cancer survivor, is currently battling cancer, or has had to deal with cancer in their immediate family

Walter & Elsie Carr Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by the families of Walter and Elsie Carr who met when they attended LCSC together in 1928. They soon moved to Emmett, Idaho where Mr. Carr taught 8th grade for many years.

  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Preference:
    • Graduate of Emmett High School

Glen and Babs Carlson Endowed Scholarship      

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Community college out-of-state transfer student scholarship

Students who graduate from a Washington or Oregon Community College may be eligible for additional scholarship funding.  If you have an Associate Degree and a 3.0 or higher grade point average, contact the Financial Aid Office for more details.

In-State Transfer Student Scholarship*

This scholarship has been set up to assist Idaho resident transfer students who wish to complete their degree at Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Must be a new, direct transfer to LCSC
  • Must have acquired at least 60 credits
  • Must have a recognized Associate's degree from a college other than Lewis-Clark State College
  • Preference:
    • Students who transfer from the following colleges: North Idaho College, Community Colleges of Spokane, College of Southern Idaho, Walla Walla Community College, Treasure Valley Community College and College of Western Idaho.

Students who are or have been concurrently enrolled at LCSC are not eligible.  Students who currently have or have had an approved Consortium Agreement with LCSC are not eligible. This is a renewable $1500, two year scholarship for those who meet and maintain the 3.0 semester GPA and 30 annual credit eligibility requirements. 

A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1 for Fall awards and December 15 for Spring awards.

Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation General Scholarship        

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Bus & Mary ellen durant endowed scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be a graduate of Timberline High School or its successor in Clearwater County, Idaho
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Fisher-Clark Memorial Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by the bequest of Barbara J. Clark in memory of her family and their long history with Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Be a female student
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Foundation Retention scholarship

This scholarship has been set up by the LCSC Foundation to assist students complete their degree at Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor degree program
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be a current LCSC student
  • Be within four semesters of graduation

Students who are currently receiving other merit-based scholarships are not eligible. This $1500 per year award may be renewable for a second year based on maintaining a 3.0 GPA and completion of 15 credits per semester.

A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Foundation Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship has been set up by the LCSC Foundation to assist Idaho resident transfer students who wish to complete their degree at Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Must be a new, direct transfer to LCSC
  • Must have acquired at least 60 credits
  • Applicants must have a recognized Associate's degree from an accredited college other than Lewis-Clark State College
  • Preference:
    • Transfer students from: North Idaho College, Community Colleges of Spokane, College of Southern Idaho, Walla Walla Community College, Treasure Valley Community College and College of Western Idaho

Dean A. Froehlich Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established in 2004 by family, friends and colleagues in memory of Dean A. Froehlich.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered
  • Preference:
    • Non-traditional, single parents who are returning to higher education and plan on staying in Idaho
    • Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

Lola Gamble-Clyde Memorial Scholarship        

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be accepted into their division, with the majority of core requirements completed
  • Vocational students must have completed at least one year of an A.A.S degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Preference:
    • Students who are present or past participants in the TRiO programs
    • Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Irene Carlson Gnaedinger Memorial Scholarship          

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Be a graduate of Lapwai High School
  • Preference:
    • Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Grand Chapter of Idaho Order of the Eastern Star Endowed Scholarship       

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Jack M. & Mary Lou Gruber Scholarship     

This scholarship was established by Jack M. and Mary Lou Gruber in memory of their parents who were not afforded the opportunity of a college education.   

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be actively involved in both the campus and the community
  • Preference:
    • Students from the Lewis-Clark Valley

The Ruth and Frank J. Heck Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by Reverend Henry L. and Mrs. Mary H. Sugden to honor Drs. Ruth and Frank J. Heck.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Heitmann Family scholarship

  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Show academic promise with intent to continue their education to the completion of a degree
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • Students who are members of or attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston, ID

Applications are available from the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Financial Aid Office. For more information, contact Trinity Lutheran Church, 920 8th Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501.

The Henderson Memorial Endowed Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must have completed at least one semester at LCSC
  • Preference:
    • Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

High School Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship was established to benefit students who have demonstrated leadership by taking on leadership positions during high school.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an incoming freshman (beginning Fall semester after high school graduation)
  • Be an Idaho resident, having graduated from an Idaho high school
  • Be at least tentatively admitted with the Office of Admission by March 1
  • Must have held a leadership position during their Junior or Senior year of high school in an officially sanctioned club or team

Lewis-Clark Coin Club Endowed Scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Scholarship shall be awarded in alternate award cycles to an Academic and a Professional-Technical student. 

Lewis-Clark Valley Kiwanis Club Endowed Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must have completed at least one semester at LCSC
  • Be from Lewiston, Idaho or Clarkston, Washington
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • Given to former Kiwanis Key Club members of current Collegiate Kiwanis International members

Lewiston rotary club GED scholarship

This scholarship is being offered by the Lewiston Rotary Club.

  • Must have obtained their GED

A separate application is required and must be submitted by June 30.

Lewiston Service League Memorial Scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be a family person returning to school
  • Show academic promise with intent to continue their education to the completion of a degree
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Applications are available from the Lewiston Service League or the Financial Aid Office. For more information, contact Lewiston Service League, P.O. Box 1811, Lewiston, ID 83501. 

A separate application is required and must be submitted by April 4.

The Elizabeth McKissick Memorial Scholarship         

This scholarship is specifically intended to provide support for young people who, for personal, financial, or other reasons discontinued their education and for those who are in need of retraining, who wish to return to school.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • At least half-time, enrolled in six or more credits per semester
  • Be at least 22 years of age at the time of application
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
  • Preference:
    • Students who graduated from or attending Lewiston High School

The Lawrence Mills Scholarship           

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an incoming freshman
  • Be from Lewis or Idaho County
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

In-State Non-Traditional Student Scholarship*

This scholarship has been set up to assist non-traditional students who have been out of high school for at least five years at the time of their initial enrollment at Lewis-Clark State College

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must be a new degree-seeking student to LCSC
  • Must be an Idaho resident
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

This is a renewable $1,500 scholarship for those who meet and maintain the 3.0 semester GPA and 30 annual credit eligibility requirements.

A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Eugene Northrup Scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be an incoming freshman, graduating from an area high school

Applicants may obtain applications from high school counselors at the following schools: Lewiston, Clarkston, Lapwai, Culdesac, Asotin, and Genesee. Students are also welcome to obtain an application directly from the United Steel Workers International Union, Local #712 Scholarship Committee Chairman or from the Financial Aid Office at Lewis-Clark State College. Applicants must write a 500 word essay on Unionism or the Labor Movement. Odd Fellows Lodge #8 Endowed Scholarship          

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Eleanor Perry Memorial Endowed Scholarship           

This scholarship was established by the Lewiston-Clarkston Soroptimist Club to offset the educationally related expenses of a Lewis-Clark State College student.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Students must be in the final year of their program

Residence hall scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an incoming freshman (beginning Fall semester after high school graduation)
  • Must have applied to live in the LCSC residence halls
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Applicants, if awarded, must participate in an entry level leadership position in the residence halls to keep the scholarship for the Spring semester. Scholarship is not renewable.

A separate application is required and must be submitted by April 1.

Troy Schelb Memorial Scholarship          

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must have completed at least 24 credits at Lewis-Clark State College
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Lewis-Clark State College Senior Scholarship*

This $500 one year scholarship was established to award LCSC seniors who have met increase criteria each year for an In-State Presidential or Provost Scholarship or a Presidential Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Be pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Have completed at least 90 credits

Applicants must have met the increase criteria each year for the scholarships named above. A student cannot have had to petition for reinstatement of their scholarship at any time to be eligible for this award.

No separate application is required and will be awarded based on meeting the above requirements.

*Effective for new scholarships awarded beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year.  First awards will not be made until 2016-2017.

Jack and Maureen Streibick Award for Outstanding Service          

Maureen Streibick was a lifelong resident of Lewiston who was deeply devoted to the growth of Lewis-Clark State College.  She served on the college’s Development Foundation board for 13 years and earned several prestigious awards. This scholarship has been set up to honor Maureen who passed away in 2004.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

A student will be selected based on excellent service to the college.

The Dene Kay Thomas Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by friends and family of Dr. Dene Kay Thomas in celebration of her Presidency at Lewis-Clark State College from 2002.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be a non-traditional female student
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Edward Williams Memorial Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Edward Williams to honor his memory.

  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an Idaho resident who is also a graduate of an Idaho high school
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

“Bob” B.H. and Patricia Wittman Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship has been established in honor and memory of Bob Wittman. As a partner in Wittman Farms, Bob, along with his brothers, built a successful farming business. Bob was recognized by the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce as an Outstanding Farm Citizen in 1978. He had an impact on LCSC and the Lewis-Clark Valley as a whole serving on many boards and commissions throughout his life. For his personal contributions to LCSC and the Lewis-Clark Community, the Industrial Agriculture Center on campus now bears the name Wittman Complex.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered

Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation

The Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation was created to assist students from Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho in their college education. 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must have graduated from high school in Eastern Washington (East of the Cascade Mountains) or North Idaho (North of Riggins, Idaho)
