General Scholarships

For scholarships requiring a General Application, first read the submission instructions relating to the version of application you are submitting (paper or electronic). General Applications, paper or electronic, must be submitted by the March 1 deadline. Only one General Application is required per student, be sure to include the checklist indicating the scholarships for which you would like to be considered.

For all other scholarships, instructions for applying will be noted or a separate application will be provided with the scholarship description.

The "21" Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by Mrs. Greeta Paris during her lifetime and has been supported by the many friends and family members who made gifts in her memory. To be eligible, students must be an incoming freshman and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to students from the Culdesac-Lapwai area and to those who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies.  A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Alumni Student Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by donations from alumni and friends of Lewis-Clark State College. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have a parent or grandparent who is a graduate of LCSC, or its predecessors; LSNS (Lewiston State Normal School), NICE (North Idaho College of Education), or LCNS (Lewis-Clark Normal School).  Preference will be given to students showing involvement on-campus and/or in the community. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Orval and Lovilla Austin Endowed Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be pursuing a degree and be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.  A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1. 

The Robert (Jack) Bowler Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established in memory of Robert (Jack) and Pearl Bowler. To be eligible, students must be an incoming freshman, be pursuing a four year degree, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students receiving an athletic scholarship are not eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Students may reapply one time for this scholarship. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Diana Brown Endowed Scholarship            

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be a non-traditional student, classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference will go to a student who is a cancer survivor, is currently battling cancer, or has had to deal with cancer in their immediate family. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Walter & Elsie Carr Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by the families of Walter and Elsie Carr who met when they attended LCSC together in 1928. They soon moved to Emmett, Idaho where Mr. Carr taught 8th grade for many years. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester. Preference will be given to a graduate of Emmett High School. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Glen and Babs Carlson Endowed Scholarship         

To be eligible for this award, applicants must have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward his or her major. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

In-State Transfer Student Scholarship*

This scholarship has been set up to assist Idaho resident transfer students who wish to complete their degree at Lewis-Clark State College. To be eligible, students must be a new, direct transfer to LCSC, be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, have acquired at least 60 credits, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Applicants must have a recognized Associate's degree from a college other than Lewis-Clark State College. Students who are or have been concurrently enrolled at LCSC are not eligible.  Students who currently have or have had an approved Consortium Agreement with LCSC are not eligible. This is a renewable $1500, two year scholarship for those who meet and maintain the 3.0 semester GPA and 30 annual credit eligibility requirements.  Preference will be given to students who transfer from the following colleges: North Idaho College, Community Colleges of Spokane, College of Southern Idaho, Walla Walla Community College, Treasure Valley Community College and College of Western Idaho. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1 for Fall awards and December 15 for Spring awards.

Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation General Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be an Idaho resident. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Bus & Mary ellen durant endowed scholarship

To be eligible for this award, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be a graduate of Timberline High School or its successor in Clearwater County, Idaho. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Fisher-Clark Memorial Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by the bequest of Barbara J. Clark in memory of her family and their long history with Lewis-Clark State College.  To be eligible, students must be female and have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward her selected major. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Dean A. Froehlich Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established in 2004 by family, friends and colleagues in memory of Dean A. Froehlich. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.  Preference will be given to non-traditional, single parents who are returning to higher education, plan on staying in Idaho and to those who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Lola Gamble-Clyde Memorial Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants should be accepted into their division, with the majority of core requirements completed, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Recipient may be taking part of his or her course work at one of the Lewis-Clark State College's outreach sites through Extended Programs. Vocational students must have completed at least one year of an A.A.S. degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students who are present or past participants in the TRiO programs and to those who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Irene Carlson Gnaedinger Memorial Scholarship           

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be a graduate of Lapwai High School. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Grand Chapter of Idaho Order of the Eastern Star Endowed Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward his or her selected major. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Jack M. & Mary Lou Gruber Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by Jack M. and Mary Lou Gruber in memory of their parents who were not afforded the opportunity of a college education. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be actively involved in both the campus and the community. Preference will be given to students from the Lewis-Clark Valley. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Ruth and Frank J. Heck Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by Reverend Henry L. and Mrs. Mary H. Sugden to honor Drs. Ruth and Frank J. Heck. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward his or her selected major. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Heitmann Family scholarship

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and show academic promise with intent to continue their education to the completion of a degree. Preference may be given to students who are members of or attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston, ID. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Applications are available from the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Financial Aid Office. For more information, contact Trinity Lutheran Church, 920 8th Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1, 2014.

The Henderson Memorial Endowed Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must have completed at least one semester at LCSC and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

High School Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship was established to benefit students who have demonstrated leadership by taking on leadership positions during high school. To be eligible, students must be an incoming freshman (beginning Fall semester after high school graduation), be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, be an Idaho resident having graduated from an Idaho high school and be at least tentatively admitted with the Office of Admission by March 1. Student must also have held a leadership position during their Junior or Senior year of high school in an officially sanctioned club or team. A separate application is required and must submitted by March 1.

Lewis-Clark Coin Club Endowed Scholarship

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Scholarship shall be awarded in alternate award cycles to an Academic and a Professional-Technical student. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1. 

Lewis-Clark Valley Kiwanis Club Endowed Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must have completed at least one semester at LCSC with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be from Lewiston, Idaho or Clarkston, Washington. Preference shall be given to former Kiwanis Key Club members or current Collegiate Kiwanis International members. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Lewiston Service League Memorial Scholarships

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, be a family person returning to school and show academic promise with intent to continue their education to the completion of a degree. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Applications are available from the Lewiston Service League or the Financial Aid Office. For more information, contact Lewiston Service League, P.O. Box 1811, Lewiston, ID 83501. A separate application is required and must be submitted by April 4, 2014.

The Elizabeth McKissick Memorial Scholarship          

This scholarship is specifically intended to provide support for young people who, for personal, financial, or other reasons discontinued their education and for those who are in need of retraining, who wish to return to school. To be eligible, students must be classified as at least half-time, enrolled in six or more credits per semester, have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward his or her selected major and be at least 22 years of age at the time of application. Preference will be given to students who graduated from or attended Lewiston High School. In the event that there are no applicants with a Lewiston High School affiliation, the scholarship may be awarded to any student meeting the other scholarship selection criteria. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Lawrence Mills Scholarship            

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be an incoming freshman, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be from Lewis or Idaho County. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Students may re-apply their sophomore year if they maintain the GPA requirement. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

In-State Non-Traditional Student Scholarship*

This scholarship has been set up to assist non-traditional students who have been out of high school for at least five years at the time of their initial enrollment at Lewis-Clark State College. To be eligible, students must be a new degree-seeking student to LCSC, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be an Idaho resident. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. This is a renewable $1,500 scholarship for those who meet and maintain the 3.0 semester GPA and 30 annual credit eligibility requirements. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Eugene Northrup Scholarship

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be an incoming freshman, graduating from an area high school and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants may obtain applications from high school counselors at the following schools: Lewiston, Clarkston, Lapwai, Culdesac, Asotin, and Genesee. Students are also welcome to obtain an application directly from the United Steel Workers International Union, Local #712 Scholarship Committee Chairman or from the Financial Aid Office at Lewis-Clark State College. Applicants must write a 500 word essay on Unionism or the Labor Movement. Odd Fellows Lodge #8 Endowed Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Minimum annual award is $250. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Eleanor Perry Memorial Endowed Scholarship           

This scholarship was established by the Lewiston-Clarkston Soroptimist Club to offset the educationally related expenses of a Lewis-Clark State College student. To be eligible, students must be in the final year of their program, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Troy Schelb Memorial Scholarship          

To be eligible for this award, applicants must have completed at least 24 credits at Lewis-Clark State College, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1. 

Lewis-Clark State College Senior Scholarship*

This $500 one year scholarship was established to award LCSC seniors who have met increase criteria each year for an In-State Presidential or Provost Scholarship or a Presidential Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship. To be eligible, students must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, have completed at least 90 credits and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must have met the increase criteria each year for the scholarships named above. A student cannot have had to petition for reinstatement of their scholarship at any time to be eligible for this award. No separate application is required and will be awarded based on meeting the above requirements.

*Effective for new scholarships awarded beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year.  First awards will not be made until 2016-2017.

Jack and Maureen Streibick Award for Outstanding Service          

Maureen Streibick was a lifelong resident of Lewiston who was deeply devoted to the growth of Lewis-Clark State College.  She served on the college’s Development Foundation board for 13 years and earned several prestigious awards. This scholarship has been set up to honor Maureen who passed away in 2004. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A student will be selected based on excellent service to the college. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Dene Kay Thomas Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by friends and family of Dr. Dene Kay Thomas in celebration of her Presidency at Lewis-Clark State College from 2002. To be eligible, students must be a non-traditional female student, be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a cumulative GPA consistent with the minimum required for admission and for progress toward her selected major.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

The Edward Williams Memorial Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Edward Williams to honor his memory. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and be an Idaho resident who is also a graduate of an Idaho high school.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Award amount varies. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

“Bob” B.H. and Patricia Wittman Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship has been established in honor and memory of Bob Wittman.  As a partner in Wittman Farms, Bob, along with his brothers, built a successful farming business. Bob was recognized by the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce as an Outstanding Farm Citizen in 1978. He had an impact on LCSC and the Lewis-Clark Valley as a whole serving on many boards and commissions throughout his life. For his personal contributions to LCSC and the Lewis-Clark Community, the Industrial Agriculture Center on campus now bears the name Wittman Complex. To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1.

Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation

The Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation was created to assist students from Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho in their college education.  To be eligible, students must be classified as full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have graduated from high school in Eastern Washington (east of the Cascade Mountains) or North Idaho (north of Riggins, Idaho). For additional information, contact the Financial Aid Office, Reid Centennial Hall 208. A separate application is required and must be submitted by March 1.
