Merit and Academic Scholarships

Be sure to first read the submission instructions relating to the version of the General Application you are submitting (paper or online). Only one General Application is required per student. If completing the paper version, be sure to include the checklist indicating the scholarships for which you would like to be considered.

General Applications, paper or online, must be submitted by the March 1 deadline.

All scholarships require a General Application, unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description. For scholarships requiring a separate application, it will be listed below the description.

TO BE ELIGIBLE, STUDENTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING BULLETED SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS.

The American Legion Boys/Girls State Scholarship

These scholarships were established to acknowledge outstanding Idaho high school seniors who have participated in The American Legion of Idaho Boys and Girls State competition and have selected Lewis-Clark State College as their school of choice. A separate application is required. Applications can be obtained from The American Legion Department of Idaho. There are four annual awards; two Boys state and two Girls state. The amount of the award is $200. Counselor Leadership Award

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must be an incoming freshman, graduating from an Idaho high school
  • Demonstrate community involvement and leadership abilities

Recipients are nominated by their high school counselors. Students must submit an Application for Admission, 7th semester transcripts and ACT/SAT scores prior to March 1. The number of annual awards is variable and worth $500. Award letters will be mailed in early April.  Award application deadline is March 1. Foundation Scholars Scholarship          

Foundation Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding Idaho and Asotin County, Washington high school seniors.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Show exceptional academic achievement, community involvement and leadership ability
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered
  • Must submit an Application for Admission, 7th semester transcripts and ACT/SAT scores prior to March 1

These $3,000 awards are renewable for a total of four years of attendance at Lewis-Clark State College. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

A General Application is required and must be submitted by March 1. 

High School Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship was established to benefit students who have demonstrated leadership by taking on leadership positions during high school.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be an incoming freshman (beginning Fall semester after high school graduation)
  • Be an Idaho resident having graduated from an Idaho high school
  • Must have held a leadership position during their Junior or Senior year of high school in an officially sanctioned club or team
  • Must submit an Application for Admission, 7th semester transcripts and ACT/SAT scores prior to March 1

The number of annual awards is variable and worth $500.

A separate application is required and must submitted by March 1.

Presidential Scholarship*

GPA 3.5-4.0 or ACT 28/SAT 1260*

 Maintenance Criteria:  3.0 GPA and complete 24 credits annually (12 credits/semester)
 Increase Criteria:  3.0 GPA and 30 credits annually
   
 Freshman Year  $1,500 (initial award and continued award if only maintenance criteria is met)
   $1,000 Book Scholarship
 Sophomore Year  $2,000 (meet increase criteria: 30 credits, 3.0 GPA)
 Junior Year  $2,500 (meet increase criteria: 60 credits, 3.0 GPA)
 Senior Year  $3,000 (meet increase criteria: 90 credits, 3.0 GPA)
 Senior Year (Bonus)  $500 (meet increase criteria: 90 credits, 3.0 GPA)

*SAT score is a combination of critical reading and math

Presidential Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Idaho high school seniors. To be considered you must meet the following.

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or a 28 ACT composite/1260 SAT critical reading and math combined
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be at least tentatively admitted to the college and have their 7th semester or 11th trimester high school transcripts on file with the Office of Admission prior to the March 1 Priority Deadline
  • Note: Students receiving a Presidential Scholarship are not eligible for the Provost Scholarship.

This $1,500 initial award amount can be renewed for a total of four consecutive years of attendance at Lewis-Clark State College.  An annual $500 increase, during these four consecutive years, is an option if you maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits annually. Presidential Scholars must maintain a 3.0 semester GPA, while completing at least 12 credits each semester. Book Scholarship*

The Book Scholarship is awarded to outstanding Idaho high school seniors. To be considered you must meet the following.

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or a 28 ACT composite/1260 SAT critical reading and math combined
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Been awarded a Presidential Scholarship
  • Be at least tentatively admitted to the college and have their 7th semester or 11th trimester high school transcripts on file with the Office of Admission prior to the March 1 Priority Deadline

This $1000 scholarship is awarded for the Freshman year only. Book Scholarship awardees must maintain a 3.0 semester GPA, while completing at least 12 credits each semester. Provost Scholarship*

GPA 3.0-3.49 or ACT 20/SAT 950*

Maintenance Criteria: 3.0 GPA and complete 24 credits annually (12 credits/semester)

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0-3.49 or a 20 ACT composite/950 SAT critical reading and math combined score
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be at least tentatively admitted to the college and have their 7th semester or 11th trimester high school transcripts on file with the Office of Admission prior to the March 1 Priority Deadline

This $1,000 initial award amount can be renewed for up to four consecutive years of attendance at Lewis Clark State College. An annual $500 increase, during these four consecutive years, is an option if you maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits annually. Lewis-Clark State College Senior Scholarship*

This $500 one year scholarship was established to award LCSC seniors who have met increase criteria each year for an In-State Presidential or Provost Scholarship or a Presidential Out-of-State Tuition Scholarship.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA, of 3.0
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Have completed at least 90 credits
  • Applicants must have met the increase criteria each year for the scholarships named above.

A student cannot have had to petition for reinstatement of their scholarship at any time to be eligible for this award. No separate application is required and will be awarded based on meeting the above requirements.

*Effective for new scholarships awarded beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year. First awards will not be made until 2016-2017.

The following scholarships are offered through the Idaho State Board of Education.

Idaho Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to Idaho residents that will graduate from an Idaho high school and plan on enrolling as a full-time student.  To find out more information and apply visit: http://www.boardofed.idaho.gov/scholarship/opportunity.asp 

GEAR UP Scholarship

Idaho residents who are a graduating senior of an Idaho high school may be eligible for this award. Students must plan to enroll as a full-time student and be participating in GEAR UP. Governor's Cup

This scholarship is offered to Idaho residents that will graduate from an Idaho high school. Academic or Technical students enrolled full-time could be eligible. Students with a 2.8 cumulative GPA and who demonstrate high commitment to public service should apply. Armed Forces and Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship

The spouse or children of a full-time Idaho public safety officer that was killed in the line of duty while working for the state of Idaho or the spouse or children of an Idaho resident that has been classified by the federal government as a prisoner of war, missing in action, or killed in action or died of injuries or wounds sustained in any area of armed conflict in which the United States is a party could be eligible for a tuition waiver while attending an Idaho college. Tschudy Family Scholarship

Idaho residents that have graduated from Emmett High School and enrolling full-time may be eligible for this scholarship. To find out more information and to apply visit:
