It's time to prepare for the upcoming school year at
LCSC. This checklist will help you complete LCSC scholarship
applications and the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Financial Aid Checklist:
Step One:
Apply for 2010-2011 scholarships
Step Two: Apply for your
Personal Identification Number (PIN) today
Step Three: Gather necessary documents to complete
your FAFSA
Step Four: Apply for Federal Aid using the FAFSA
Step Five: Review and turn in your Award Letter and additional
paperwork
Step One
LCSC scholarship applications
are available to download. The General Application has a March 1
deadline. Other application deadlines may vary, so start early. It is
recommended that you apply for all eligible LCSC scholarships before
you begin an outside search, as competition becomes greater once
you broaden your search beyond LCSC.
Visit our scholarship information page to begin:

Step Two
The FAFSA is an online application,
therefore you will sign it with an electronic signature. Your electronic signature is known
as a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN is a four digit
number attached to your full name, social security number and date of
birth. The student, and one parent if
you are a dependent student, per FAFSA criteria, will need to apply for
a PIN.
Visit
www.pin.ed.gov
to apply for a PIN today. If you already had a PIN from last year,
you are not required to re-apply for a new one. If you
lost, or have forgotten your PIN, then visit the PIN website to request a
duplicate.

Step Three
While the FAFSA is not a
difficult application to complete, it does take some time and effort.
It is beneficial for you and your
parent(s) to complete your 2009 tax returns before starting the form.
Your taxes will provide the majority of information needed on the FAFSA.*
You and/or your parents will need these documents to complete the
FAFSA:
|
|
Your Social Security Number. Be sure it is correct!
|
|
|
Your driver's license (if any)
|
|
|
Your 2009 W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
|
|
|
Your (and your spouse´s, if you are married) 2009 Federal
Income Tax Return.

Return, or

Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin
Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federal States of
Micronesia, or Palau
|
|
|
Your Parents´ 2009 Federal Income Tax Return (if you are a
dependent student)
|
|
|
Your 2009 untaxed income records

|
|

*If you do not complete your Federal Income Tax Return
prior to the March 1 Priority Deadline, you should use estimated
figures on the FAFSA and update these figures when your taxes are
complete.

Step Four
The 2010-2011 FAFSA is completed on-line at
www.fafsa.gov.
The FAFSA cannot be
submitted before January 1 of the academic year you are entering
college. For LCSC to receive your FAFSA results, you need to
include LCSC’s school code: 001621.
There is no deadline for
submitting the FAFSA, however LCSC has a March 1 Priority Deadline.
The Priority Deadline is a date, determined by LCSC, which the
FAFSA must be received by the Central Processor in order to be
considered for certain types of aid. Many of the Student Aid Programs
other than the Pell Grant (e.g. work-study, need-based scholarships,
and state grants) have only limited funding available. Students who do
not meet this deadline will not be considered for these awards. In
order to meet the Priority Deadline, your application must be received
by the Central Processor no later than March 1. In addition, students
must be admitted to LCSC by this date to be considered priority.

Step Five
Once you are admitted to the college and have
submitted your FAFSA, we will issue you an Award Letter that describes
the types and amounts of the awards we were able to secure for you.
You should expect a postcard or an email, if you are a current student,
sometime during the month of April. This postcard or email will inform
you that your 2010-2011 Award Letter is now ready to be printed from Warriorweb with instructions on
how to accept the awards being offered to you.
