The Foundation Scholars Program
The LCSC Foundation established the Foundation Scholars Program in 1991.
Foundation Scholarships attract students with the strongest academic and leadership
skills, helping to retain in Idaho the regions upcoming talent and brainpower.
Each year, all high school seniors with grade point averages of 3.5 or
higher in the State of Idaho and Asotin County, Washington are invited to apply for
Foundation Scholarships. From the annual pool of applicants, ten Foundation Scholars are
selected based on an evaluation of each applicants grade point average, demonstrated
writing ability, and record of leadership and extracurricular activity. This information
is used to judge the leadership potential and probability of personal and academic success
in the educational and social environment at LCSC.
Foundation Scholarships provide high potential students with the
financial and motivational means to achieve their educational goals, establishing the
bedrock of continued success. Achievement-based and renewable for up to four years,
Foundation Scholarships provide annual awards of $1,500 to each scholar, so long as he or
she maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 and continues to be
enrolled for at least 12 credits.
Foundation Scholars currently enrolled at LCSC have an average grade point
of 3.88. One in three Foundation Scholars graduates from LCSC with a perfect 4.0.
