MAIN CEREMONY
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Commencement exercises are scheduled for Friday, May 17. The ceremony will be held in the Activity Center. Graduates must arrive at 5:00 p.m. to line up for the procession. The processional parade begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, commencement line up will be held in the Activity Center West Gym.

GENERAL COMMENCEMENT PROTOCOL

The commencement exercise is a formal academic ceremony. You have worked hard for this important day, and we have worked hard to make the day a memorable one for you and your family. We ask that you respect the ceremony, your fellow graduates and guests by dressing and behaving in the dignified manner that the occasion merits. Cap and gown regalia is the required dress for graduates. No food or beverages will be permitted for those in the line of march. We ask that you keep your cell phones turned off throughout the graduation processional and ceremony.

“WALKING” REQUIREMENTS AND PARTICIPATION

Students who have completed all their graduation requirements and have noted on their application that they intend to “walk,” may participate in the commencement ceremony. Students are encouraged to participate in the commencement ceremony in May whether they completed their degree in December, or will complete in May or August.

Students with 6 or fewer credits remaining to complete their programs may participate in the commencement ceremony if the student is enrolled in these 6 credits during the summer term. Participation in commencement does not constitute graduation from LCSC; students must satisfactorily complete their remaining credits to earn a diploma from LCSC.

TO BE EXCUSED FROM PARTICIPATING

If you do not plan to participate in graduation, please notify the LCSC Office of Admission/Registrar in writing. You may also email registrar@lcsc.edu to make this request. Please make your request as early as possible.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

Ushers will be stationed at several locations to assist disabled guests to the reserved section for wheelchairs and walkers. Graduates with physical disabilities who need assistance to participate in the ceremony should call 208-792-2313 to make arrangements. A sign language interpreter will be positioned near the speaker to accommodate those with hearing disabilities.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEGREES

Students with more than one degree must choose the degree under which they wish to walk. Additional degrees will be announced.

Secondary Education majors are announced at commencement exercises by their content area.
