Commencement 2008: A
Practical Walk-through
GENERAL COMMENCEMENT PROTOCOL: The Commencement exercise is a
formal academic ceremony. You have worked hard for this important day,
and we have worked hard to make the day a memorable one for you and your
family. We ask that you respect the ceremony, your fellow graduates
and guests by dressing and behaving in the dignified manner that the
occasion merits. Cap and gown regalia is the required dress for
graduates. No food or beverages will be permitted for those in the
line of march. We ask that you keep your cell phones turned off
throughout the graduation processional and ceremony.
TO BE EXCUSED FROM PARTICIPATING:
If you do not plan to participate in graduation, please notify
the LCSC Office of Admission/
Registrar in writing. You may also email
cdquintero@lcsc.edu to
make this request. Please make your request as early as
possible.
SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS:
Ushers will be stationed
at several locations to assist disabled guests to the reserved section for
wheelchairs and walkers. Graduates with physical disabilities who need
assistance to participate in the ceremony should call 208-792-2313 to make
arrangements. A sign language interpreter will be positioned near the
speaker to accommodate those with hearing disabilities.
DRESS and REGALIA: Commencement is a formal academic occasion. Graduates must be in
proper academic regalia (cap, gown, stole and academic tassel) in order to
participate in the activities. The tassel is worn on the right side of the mortarboard (cap) prior to the degree being conferred. The president
will instruct you to move the tassel to the left side after the degrees have

CORDS and TASSELS:
Honor cords (President’s Honors, Cum Laude,
Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude) and tassels (Honors Program and
Ambassadors) will be distributed at rehearsal. To determine eligibility for

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Blank announcements that do not have any imprinting may be purchased at the
college bookstore. for $1.00 each.
Personalized announcement packages will be available for you to purchase
from the Josten’s representative during the cap and gown order day. You
should allow three to four weeks for delivery of the personalized package.

GRADUATION BANQUET:
The Lewis-Clark State College
Associated Students Graduation Banquet will be Thursday, May 15
at Event Center of the Clearwater River Casino. A no-host social hour begins at 6:00
p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m. Each graduate receives one free banquet
ticket. Remember to pick up your free ticket from the ASLCSC Office by May
9th. Additional tickets can be purchased for family and guests at the ASLCSC
Office located in the Student Union Building Room 219.
Tickets available starting April 2, 2008.
COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL:
Commencement rehearsal will be held Friday, May
16 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
PLAN TO ATTEND!! Graduates will begin line up at the SUB Amphitheatre.
Your early arrival will be appreciated—practice begins promptly at 1:00 p.m.
The graduate procession order will be alphabetical by last name, by major.
If we have inclement weather, line up will be held in the Auxiliary Gym.
COMMENCEMENT:
Commencement exercises are scheduled for Friday, May
16. The ceremony will
be held in the Activity Center. Graduates must arrive at 5:00 p.m. to line
up for the procession. The processional parade begins promptly at 6:00 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, commencement line up will be held in the
