In order to generate additional grant applications and support the development of new and innovative ideas and programs, the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) will award the following as incentives to grant developers. For the purpose of this incentive program, a grant is defined as non-repayable funds or products to support a specific project. Incentive awards are limited to one per grant application.PI/PD should review incentive options with his/her supervisor to determine which incentives apply.
PI/PD may select one option per grant, subject to supervisor approval.
OPPORTUNITY 1: Travel for Proposal Development
Travel for research, workshop training, and/or to secure partnerships for grant application development will be reimbursed by the OGC at actual cost, up to $500. A synopsis of meetings, training, and/or completed research must be submitted to the OGC.
OPPORTUNITY 2: Stipend for writing a quality application proposal, i.e. a proposal that is complete, thorough, and adequately addresses the funding criteria.
OPPORTUNITY 3: Course Release or Payment in Addition (faculty) or Stipend for successful awarded proposal.
Release time or Payment in Addition is offered to the faculty PI/PD of a successful proposal to conduct research and projects described in the grant. Faculty must receive prior approval from their Division Chair before requesting a Course Release. For purposes of the Grant Incentive Program, course release is limited to one per term. Allowing additional course release time in support of the grant is the prerogative of the division.
OPPORTUNITY 4: For units housing full time Federal grant directors, the OGC may pay for release time to develop/write/submit proposal, equivalent to two weeks at current rate of pay. [Federal grant writing efforts should be treated as Facilities and Administrative (F&A) cost as per OMB A-21 J.38.]
