Hobbies:  Well, I spend a heck of a lot of time writing.  I'm a novelist and currently working on my second novel.  I also write short stories.  I've been working on a book of nonfiction essays as well, and once in a rare while, I'll go back to writing poetry.  But when I'm not doing that, I'm either training my young horse, Scout, or he's training me.  We're working on dressage, cross country and stadium jumping.  He's a Connemara-Arab cross, so he's incredibly athletic and at six, he has all the stamina I used to have.

If I'm not with my horse, I'm probably out playing with the dogs.  I have a 90 lb. boxer named Mr. Boo, and a 15 lb. Border Terrier named Truman (as in fightin' Harry Truman).  They're both sweet animals and keep me pretty well occupied.  I have a canary, Cicero, which might just be the perfect pet.  You clean his cage, keep him fed and watered and he will sing your praises forever.

Other than that, I'm fond of doing the visual arts as well--painting, sculpting, drawing.  I've always been involved in music.  I play piano reasonably well, banjo far less well (I'm just learning it) and recently picked up a small half-sized accordion, for which my neighbors will never forgive me.
