What is WebCT
Answer:
WebCT stands for Web Course
Tools which is browser-based software that allows faculty
and students to carry on teaching and learning activities
online. The number of classes at LC taking advantage of some
of WebCT's features is growing. More classes are using WebCT
to enhance courses with online tests or discussions or even
blend classroom learning time with online learning time.

Is WebCT the same as WarriorWeb?
Answer:
No. WarriorWeb is
another browser-based tool but its focus is registration and
grading, not teaching and learning. However, WarriorWeb
course and roster data is transmitted to WebCT. Accordingly
you will find the Virtual Classroom Link to WebCT in your
WarriorWeb classes. If your course is using a WebCT
component the link will be hot and will take you to the
online environment. If your course doesn't feature WebCT
components, the link will not work and you can just ignore
it.

How will I know if a course uses WebCT?
Answer:
Your instructor and
course syllabus will tell you if there is an online
component to your course and how to access it. You can also
check the Distance Learning course listings at
http://www.lcsc.edu/dl/credit.htm.
If you suspect that the link should work for a course of
yours but it doesn't, please contact
helpdesk@lcsc.edu or
call 792.2231. Please use that email or phone as well if you
have any questions about this announcement.

What happens when I register for a
course with a WebCT presence?
Answer:
That depends on when you
register. Here’s a general overview:
*
Pre-registration to finals week of the current semester = no
data sharing between WarriorWeb and WebCT
* Finals
week = initial “push” of course data for the upcoming
semester
* After
finals to the start of the upcoming semester = regular batch
pushes of data from WarriorWeb to WebCT
* After
the semester starts = daily updates of data flow from
WarriorWeb to WebCT, i.e. if you add a WebCT course on
Tuesday you might not be able to access it until Wednesday.

What if I don’t see my classes or
have trouble accessing them?
Answer:
All student help requests
should be addressed to
helpdesk@lcsc.edu, you can get phone
help at 208.792.2231. Be certain you tell the helper exactly
what difficulty you are having. If, you can’t get into
WarriorWeb, say that. If you can’t jump from WarriorWeb to
WebCT, then the help staff needs to know that. They also
need to know if your problem is just within WebCT, for
example if a test won’t open that you think should.
If you
email, please use your LCWarriormail account or include your
student ID#. We want to protect your identity and privacy
when dealing with your accounts.
