Lesson 0: An Introduction to the Course

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, or PHP, is an open source programming language that is used for developing interactive Web sites. More specifically, PHP is a scripting language that is executed from a Web Server. This class teaches Web Development with PHP and MySQL. Completion of this course will enable the student to build professional-quality, database-driven Web sites with PHP and MySQL.

Development Assignments
  1. Set up your server space for this class. The main course folder must be named citpt227. Establish a structured layout for each assignment and exercise or project within that assignment. You must have a root level index/default page and folder level index/default page for this class.
  2. Download and install your local development environment. Proof of operation is required with a short video posted to your server space under the http://citpt.lcsc.edu/yourusername/citpt227/lesson00 folder.
  3. Build a simple PHP page that shows all the current settings for the PHP environment.
  4. Build a simple PHP page that shows your name and the current date.
