Academic OneFile - Academic OneFile is the premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1995. Updated daily. A Thomson Gale database.
InfoTrac General Science - A subset of Academic OneFile, this database provides full-text articles related to science.
PNAS Online - Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the USA Online. Includes the full text plus the figures, tables, equations, and references of articles in PNAS dating back through 1996.
Online access available through LCSC campus network only.
PHYSICAL & APPLIED SCIENCE INDEXES:
Chem Abstracts - Online fee-based database. Covers the fields of biochemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, macromolecular chemistry, and organic chemistry. Types of materials that are indexed include journal articles, patents, technical reports, dissertations, conference proceedings, and books. Computer Database - Includes computer-related product introductions, news and reviews in areas such as hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications and the application of technology.
GeoRef - Covers the geosciences. Provides citations to more than 3500 journals, as well as articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, and theses.
EI Compendex - Online fee-based database. Covers aeronautical and aerospace engineering, applied physics (high energy, plasma, nuclear and solid state), bioengineering and medical equipment, chemical engineering, ceramics, plastics and polymers, food technology, civil and structural engineering, environmental technology, electrical instrumentation, control engineering, power engineering, electronics, computers, communications, energy technology and petroleum engineering, engineering management and industrial engineering, light and optical technology, marine engineering, naval architecture, ocean and underwater technology, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering and transportation, mining and metallurgical engineering, materials science. Provides indexing to 2600 journals, publications of engineering societies, approximately 600 conferences a year, technical reports, and monographs. Journals of the American Chemical Society - Search for articles, then check for availability in the LCSC Journal List.
LIFE SCIENCES & HEALTH INDEXES:
BasicBIOSIS - Covers life sciences, environmental sciences, and other related disciplines. Provides citations to 350 core life sciences journals, as well as meeting papers, reviews, and newspapers.
CINAHL - (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature). Provides citations to over 1600 nursing and allied health journals dating back to 1982.
Health Reference Center Academic (A Thomson Gale database) - Provides articles from 750 sources, plus citations from an additional 2200 journals in medicine, health, nursing and allied health areas.

Health & Wellness Resource Center (A Thomson Gale database) - General, less academic health information than found in Health Reference Center Academic. It includes full-text of articles, newletters, and pamphlets, as well as reference works such as The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine.
InfoTrac Agriculture Collection - A subset of Academic OneFile, this database provides full-text articles related to agriculture and food production.
InfoTrac Environmental Issues & Policy - A subset of Academic OneFile, this database provides full-text articles related to environmental policy.
InfoTrac Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Collection - A subset of Academic OneFile, this database provides full-text articles related to sports medicine.
PubMed - Covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Provides citations and author abstracts from more than 4,600 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries. Provided by the National Library of Medicine, part of the Federal Government's National Institutes of Health.
PubMed provides access to bibliographic information which includes MEDLINE as well as:
The out-of-scope citations (e.g., articles on plate tectonics or astrophysics) from certain MEDLINE journals, primarily general science and chemistry journals, for which the life sciences articles are indexed for MEDLINE. Citations that precede the date that a journal was selected for MEDLINE indexing. Some additional life science journals that submit full text to PubMedCentral and receive a qualitative review by NLM.
EDUCATION INDEXES:
ERIC - Contains citations and abstracts from almost 1000 education-related journals. Citations to the contents of ERIC Documents, including conference papers and curriculum suggestions. The LCSC Library has most recent ERIC Documents, full-text, on microfiche.
InfoTrac Educators - A subset of Academic OneFile, this database provides full-text articles related to education.

LCSC Library Catalog - provides information about the materials owned by the LCSC Library and other North Idaho Academic Libraries, including North Idaho College and the University of Idaho. Also has a link to WIN Libraries, so you can search Gonzaga, Whitworth, and VALNet Libraries.
WSU Library Catalog - (Washington State University). To find out if they have any books on your topic, search on "Keyword." Keep your search BRIEF with just a word or a few words! To find out if they subscribe to a particular journal, click on "Journals, Magazines, Newspapers" in the drop-down box next to the "Go" button. Searching this link is helpful if you are going to go to WSU to do research; THEY CHARGE LCSC TO SEND MATERIALS VIA INTERLIBRARY LOAN!
WorldCat - A catalog of items held at libraries throughout the world. Many of these materials can be borrowed through inter-library loan.
Google Books - Info from their Website: "Just do a search on Google Book Search or on Google.com. When we find a book whose content contains a match for your search terms, we'll link to it in your search results. Click a book title and you'll see, like a card catalog entry, some basic information about the book. You may also see a few snippets of text from the book showing your search term in context. If the publisher or author has given us permission through our Partner Program then you'll see a few full pages from the book and if the book is out of copyright, you'll be able to page through the entire book." Click on the "About This Book" link and look for a link called "Find This Book in a Library" to locate the nearest library holdings.

Biology Browser - Produced by BIOSIS, BiologyBrowser is a free web site offering resources for the life sciences information community, including the Nomenclature Glossary for Zoology.
SCIRUS - A comprehensive science-specific search engine available on the Internet. Driven by the latest search engine technology, it enables scientists, students and anyone searching for scientific information to chart and pinpoint data, locate university sites and find reports and articles quickly and easily. It was launched by Elsevier Science, the leading international publisher of scientific information.
Public Library of Science - A new publishing venture by scientists. PLoS is a nonprofit organization of scientists and physicians committed to making the world's scientific and medical literature a freely available public resource. Most of their articles are available through PubMed Central in full-text.
Science.gov - A gateway to authoritative selected science information provided by U.S. Government agencies, including research and development results.
Teacher's Domain : Multimedia resources for the classroom and professional development - Provided by WGBH, the PBS station in Boston. Most materials are for science subjects. User needs to register (for free).
APA Citation Style - examples of citations in APA Format for your list of References.

USA.Gov - A search engine for government Web pages, with an emphasis on the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.
GPO Access - Searchable database of Web pages, with an emphasis on the Legislative Branch of the Federal Government. Provided by the Government Printing Office.
Thomas - An easy-to-search source for legislative information, provided by the Library of Congress.
I-Docs - An online collection of paper and digital resources selectively chosen from published Idaho Government Documents.
