Credo Reference - Search a collection of up to 100 online dictionaries and subject encyclopedias. Or click on "Find a Book," and search within only one title, such as Cambridge Guide to Theatre or Bloomsbury Guide to Art.
Virtual Reference Library - Search a collection on online reference books from Gale, a respected publisher of subject-focused encyclopedias and dictionaries.
WorldCat - A catalog of items held at libraries throughout the world. Many of these materials can be borrowed through inter-library loan.
Google Books - Info from their Website: "Just do a search on Google Book Search or on Google.com. When we find a book whose content contains a match for your search terms, we'll link to it in your search results. Click a book title and you'll see, like a card catalog entry, some basic information about the book. You may also see a few snippets of text from the book showing your search term in context. Social Work:
Social Work Abstracts - Extensive coverage of more than 450 social work and human services journals dating back to 1977. Produced by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the database provides citations and abstracts dealing with all aspects of the social work field, including theory and practice, areas of service and social issues and problems.
SocINDEX with Full Text - contains full text for 253 "core" coverage sociology journals dating back to 1895, and 72 "priority" coverage journals. This database also includes full text for 547 books and monographs, and full text for 6,711 conference papers.
ProQuest Social Science Journals - Full-text periodicals covering the social sciences.
General Databases: ProQuest Central - Includes articles from over 11,000 magazines and journals. Many, but not all, provide the full-text of articles. Over 160 subjects areas are covered extensively in this product including business and economics, health and medical, news and world affairs, technology, and social sciences.
Research Library - A smaller collection of periodicals than ProQuest Central. Covers a broad range of subjects including arts, business, children, education, general interest, health, humanities, international, law, military, multicultural, psychology, sciences, social sciences, and women's interests.
CQ Researcher - Find pro and con articles on a wide variety of public policy issues. CQ Researcher is noted for its in-depth, unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy.
ProQuest National Newspapers Premier - Includes a balance of national and regional newspapers chosen for their journalistic excellence and regional representation. All titles are available in full text. Papers include national titles such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post along with a selection of titles from across the U.S. such as the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Denver Post, The Sacramento Bee plus other important U.S. papers.
Lewiston Morning Tribune - Search for articles in the local paper. If you don't have an account/subscription, come in and find the articles on microfilm or ask the Librarian to allow you to use the LCSC Library account for online access.
Psychology & Education: ProQuest Psychology Journals - With complete full-text coverage from top psychology and related publications, this database meets the needs of both students and mental-health professionals.
PsycINFO - Contains more than 1.8 million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations and technical reports, all in the field of psychology. Journal coverage, which dates back to the 1800s, includes international material selected from more than 1,700 periodicals in over 30 languages. You will get the best results if your search uses the database's subject terms!
ERIC - Contains citations and abstracts for over 750 educational journals and related documents from the Education Resource Information Center. May be useful for child-related topics. The LCSC Library has the ERIC Documents on microfiche, going back to Document #247370. You will get the best results if your search uses the database's subject terms!
Criminal Justice: Criminal Justice Periodicals - A comprehensive collection of U.S. and international criminal justice journals including information for professionals in law enforcement, corrections administration, drug enforcement, rehabilitation, family law, and industrial security.
Westlaw - Online legal research service provides quick, easy access to West's vast collection of statutes, case law materials, public records and other legal resources, as well as current news articles and business information.
NCJRS Abstracts Database - Summaries of the more than 195,000 criminal justice, juvenile justice, and substance abuse resources housed in the National Criminal Justice Reference Service Library collection. No full-text articles provided. Check the LCSC Journal Titles List for availability.
Health: CINAHL with Full-Text - Most comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 580 journals, with full-text coverage dating back to 1981.
ProQuest Family Health - Full-text information covering numerous aspects of family health from sports injuries to women's health, from food and nutrition to midwifery, from eye care to dentistry.
ProQuest Health and Medical Complete - Designed to serve a wide range of people who need health information -- from hospital administrators to medical professionals to consumers. The database provides coverage from leading health journals and essential medical journals in key medical specialties.
PubMed - Covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Provides access to 9 million citations in MEDLINE and Pre-MEDLINE (with links to participating on-line journals), and other related databases. Provided by the National Library of Medicine, part of the Federal Government's National Institutes of Health.

Child Care & Early Education Research Connections - a multidisciplinary database of over 10,000 resources, including journal articles, reports, and datasets from research projects. Maintained by the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University, the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research, and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
Internet Resources on Aging - links to approximately 500 web sites, reviewed by AARP.
Social Work & Social Services Web Sites - A Web site maintained by the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Has links to other sites on many issues related to Social Work.
The SocioSite Project - Provides access to international resources related to sociology via 24 categories. The faculty of the Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam compiles material for inclusion. The site is designed to get provide access to information and resources which are relevant for sociologists and other social scientists.

Assignment Calculator - Based on the start date and due date for your assignment, this calculator will map out benchmarks for completing tasks leading up to the final paper. It also provides links to other pages with tips on understanding your assignment, focusing your topic, etc. It was developed by the library at the University of Minnesota, so a few of its linked resources are not available to you. But we have many similar resources available to you on this campus.

Wikipedia : Researching with Wikipedia - A page on the Wikipedia site that describes the strengths and weaknesses of Wikipedia as a source of information.
