TOPIC –
Introduction to the library
GOALS –
Introduce students to the physical lay-out and
collections of the library
Students should, at least, feel comfortable
using the library and, at best, experience some enthusiasm for the human
and information resources available to them.
OBJECTIVES --
After performing the module’s activity,
students will be able to:
- Name the various collections in the library
- Locate the various collections in the
library
- Identify some specified resources in the
collections
- Identify the meaning of the first 2 letters
in a call number
- Arrange a set of call numbers in order
- Locate the Reference Desk and identify the
services provided there
- Locate the Circulation Desk and identify the
services provided there
- Locate the Information Literacy Institute
and identify the services provided
- Locate the Reserves and identify the
information needed to borrow reserve materials
- Locate the public-access computers and identify the resources provided
there
