Welcome to
Information Literacy Module
1A:
Introduction to Library Resources
|
In this module, we will introduce you to the LCSC Library and guide you to its resources for doing research. If you need help in understanding any of the information in this module, the Reference Librarians would be glad to give you some individual instruction! Here are this Module's complete goals and objectives. ACTIVITIES: 1. Read through the
Virtual Library Tour. There are more details here than you will be
able to remember. The important thing is to acquaint yourself with the
variety of services and collections that your Library offers.
(Allow approximately 15 minutes.) 2. Read about the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System. It will explain how our books are shelved. {This tutorial was originally created by the Honolulu Community College Library.} (Allow approximately 10 minutes).
3. Try a
non-credit
quiz to see if you can put a shelf of books into the correct order,
using the LC Classification System. This may help you to find books in
the future. When it prompts you to “Try Again?” it is offering you an
opportunity to try a different set of books.
{This quiz was prepared by Michael Ford at the
University of Pittsburgh.} (Allow approximately 5 minutes.) 4. Solve the Mystery Quotation puzzle by walking around
the Library and collecting clues. You can find the puzzle at the
Library's Reference Desk.
(Allow approximately 45 minutes). Test your knowledge of the library's services, policies, and organization. The quiz is available in the Assessments section of some online courses on Blackboard. Login to your online course, and look for the Assessment for Module 1A (Introduction).
