Welcome to
Information Literacy Module 1A:

Introduction to Library Resources

In this module, we will introduce you to the LCSC Library and guide you to its resources for doing research.

If you need help in understanding any of the information in this module, the Reference Librarians would be glad to give you some individual instruction!

Here are this Module's complete goals and objectives.

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Read through the Virtual Library Tour.  There are more details here than you will be able to remember.  The important thing is to acquaint yourself with the variety of services and collections that your Library offers. (Allow approximately 15 minutes.)

  2. Read about the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System.  It will explain how our books are shelved.  {This tutorial was originally created by the Honolulu Community College Library.} (Allow approximately 10 minutes).

  3. Solve the Mystery Quotation puzzle by walking around the Library and collecting clues.  You can find the puzzle at the Library's Reference Desk. (Allow approximately 45 minutes).

  4. Test your knowledge of the library's services, policies, and organization.  The quiz is available in the Assessments section of some online courses on Blackboard.  Login to your online course, and look for the Assessment for Module 1A (Introduction).

For more detailed instructions on logging in to take the quiz, read this Handout.
