Welcome to

Information Literacy Module 1C:

Finding Books for Research

To find books, CDs, and videos in our Library, you need to search the Library Catalog.  In this module, we will show you the basics so you can get started searching for books.  We will cover more advanced searching skills in a Level Two module (still to come).

If you need help in understanding any of the information in this module, the Reference Librarians would be glad to give you some individual instruction!

Here are the goals and objectives for this Module.

ACTIVITIES:

  1.  Read through a tutorial (Searching the Catalog : Part 1).  It will demonstrate basic keyword and subject searches.  (Allow approximately 10 minutes.)

  1. Read through another tutorial (Searching the Catalog : Part 2).  It will provide some tips on using the information in the catalog to evaluate the results of your search.  (Allow approximately 9 minutes.)

  1. Test your knowledge of the Library Catalog.

The quiz is available in the Assessments section of some online courses on Blackboard.  Login to your online course, and look for the Assessment for Module 1C (Finding Books).
