Here once again are the first 10 results from our search on "instant messaging."

Remember that we found 175 academic journal articles on "instant messaging" and 2607 magazine articles!  That's an awful lot to read.  Let's see how we could decrease that number.

The first thing we could do is to add another term to our search statement.  We started with instant messaging.  The search statement instant messaging and college students would probably retrieve fewer results, because the computer would have to find articles with both concepts instead of instant messaging alone.  (In the journal databases, it is vital to connect concepts with the word "and."  Just typing out a string of words will likely return NO results.)

Type instant messaging and college students in the Quick Search "Find" box now.  Click on Search.
