The information about the conductor and the Philips catalog number indicate to us that this is a recording of "Porgy and Bess," rather than a published musical score or a book about "Porgy and Bess."

Here is the same CD as it appears in the Library Catalog:

You will see some information in brackets, like this [Porgy and Bess. Selections].   The person who entered the information into the catalog was able to tell that this CD contained only selections from "Porgy and Bess," rather than the entire production.  So he or she added [Porgy and Bess. Selections] in brackets to show that this is additional information provided by the cataloger and didn't actually appear in the title on the CD.

In the Publisher field, you can see another set of brackets.  The cataloger added this information to indicate that Philips is headquartered in Baarn, Netherlands, even though this information doesn't appear on the CD.
