Getting Started

The Reference Collection at the Library is a good place to head when you have a new topic to research.  The Reference Books can:

  • help you narrow or focus a topic

  • give you an overview of the topic

  • provide citations to research published on the topic

  • define terms that are new to you

  • detail statistical information related to your topic

  • provide biographical information on famous people in the field.

They are located on the First Floor of the Library, behind the Reference Desk and the Library Computers.

You cannot check the Reference Books out, but like encyclopedias, you wouldn't necessarily want to read them cover-to-cover, anyway.  You are welcome to copy the pages that are useful for your topic.
