Whew! That was a lot of information!  Let's hit the highlights again...

When you're getting started, the Library's Reference Collection has some psychology encyclopedias and other resources that can help you to focus your topic, get an overview, and find some citations or definitions.

Once you have a topic set, you need to think about the kinds of resources that would be best for your topic.

  • Books:  Good for in-depth historical overview

  • Journal Articles:  Good for detailed descriptions of the latest research

  • Interviews:  Good for anecdotes and references to research

  • Surveys:  Good for looking for patterns among people in your area

  • Websites:  Good for information about organizations in your topic area, statistics, government reports, Congressional hearing transcripts.
