To find journal articles, the first step is to identify a database or databases to search.  The 2 indexes most focused on Psychology at LCSC are PsycINFO and InfoTrac Psychology Collection.  In addition, you should search ERIC if your topic deals with children.

The best strategy for searching an index is to figure out the subject terms that were used to describe articles on your topic.  The Thesaurus (if one is available) will guide you to the correct terms.  Then use the Advanced Search to specify that the terms you are searching are in the SUBJECT field.

The last step is to find the articles.  They may be available

  • Full-text online

  • In the LCSC Library, either in paper or on microfiche

  • Via interlibrary loan.
