Databases to Search

The LCSC Library has 2 databases that focus exclusively on resources in the area of Psychology:

DATABASE

DESCRIPTION

PsycINFO

  • More than 1 million citations

  • Citations from more than 1700 journals

  • Coverage includes journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations and technical reports.

  • Citations only. NO FULL-TEXT of articles!

InfoTrac Psychology Collection

  • Citations of about 350,000 articles.

  • Coverage includes journal articles only.

  • Does provide FULL-TEXT of most of its articles.

As you can see, there is a trade-off between the amount of coverage and the provision of Full-Text articles!

If you are researching a topic related to Child Development, you should also search the following education-related database:

DATABASE

DESCRIPTION

ERIC

  • ERIC = Educational Resource Information Center

  • Citations from nearly 1000 education journals

  • Citations to more than 470,000 ERIC Documents (we have all documents after #247,370 on microfiche in the Library)

  • Citations only. Very few FULL-TEXT articles!

If you have a good background in health science, you may also be able to read some of the articles covered in PubMed, a comprehensive index from the National Library of Medicine.
