Welcome to an

Information Literacy Module:

Finding Resources in Psychology

Do you need to find materials in the discipline of Psychology?  This tutorial explains the variety of materials available, when they're appropriate to use, how to find them and how to cite them in a paper.

If you need help in understanding any of the information in this module, the Reference Librarians would be glad to give you some individual instruction!

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Read through this tutorial. (Allow about 30 minutes.)

    2.   When you write papers, you will need to cite your sources, that is, you will need to explain where you got your information.  Most psychology instructors want you to use the APA style in your papers.  Here are some sites that may help you:

APA Style:

  • Try an Interactive Tutorial to teach you the basics of creating citations in APA Style.  {Thanks to Mr. Kevin Schoepp for developing it and making it available to us!} If the quizzes inside this tutorial take too long to download, just click on "Next" to skip the quiz and proceed with the tutorial.  (Allow 1 hour to read all the materials and do all the activities.)

  • If you need a quick look at examples, here is a page created by the Writers' Workshop at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  For questions concerning a particular source that you want to cite, ask the Reference Librarians for help.

    3.   Test your knowledge of resources in psychology.  Take the quiz online
