Meet The Tutors

Tutor Aaron

Hey everyone! I am majoring in secondary education, with a concentration in mathematics. One day I hope to be a high school math teacher. Before transferring to Lewis-Clark State College, I attended school in my hometown, Nampa, ID. I went to the College of Western Idaho and received my Associates degree in Liberal Arts, graduating magna cum laude. When I’m not tutoring, I love doing origami, telling corny jokes, and making terrible puns!

 Tutor Abby

Hi all, my name is Abby. This coming May I am on track to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in both chemistry and biology. After graduation, I am applying to medical school and then I am going to get married in June! My hometown is Spokane, Washington and if you don’t all know, it is a fantastic place to live in during the summer and even in the winter (although, I must say, the winters are much milder here in Lewiston than they are in Spokane)! There are several lakes and dozens of places to hike in and nearby Spokane that allow you to truly experience the wonders and tranquility of the outdoors. When I am not tutoring, I love to swim, hike, adventure to new places, and spend time with friends and family. I am looking forward to meeting and helping people this semester through tutoring!

 Tutor Alyissa

Hi hi, I’m Alyissa! My majors are business and computer science, my minor is in Spanish. I hope to be a software engineer someday! Clarkston, Washington is my hometown, but I did spend a semester studying abroad in Costa Rica. When I’m not tutoring, you can more than likely find me practicing my Spanish, exercising, sewing or drawing.

 Tutor Brooke

Hi, I’m Brooke! I’m currently majoring in mathematics and minoring in secondary education. Although I was born in Grangeville, Idaho, I’ve moved around quite a bit in my life. At one point I lived in Kotzebue, Alaska, which is above the Arctic Circle! When I’m not tutoring in the lab, I spend time serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity. They built me a house in 2006 and I stay actively involved in order to ensure that other families receive the same stability that has been offered to me.

 Tutor Brycen

Nice to meet you! My name is Brycen and I am majoring in elementary education, with a literacy endorsement. Although I’m still open to change, I hope to one day be an art professor. Originally, I am from Winnemucca, Nevada, a small city of roughly 7,000. When I’m not tutoring, I tend to do regular pretentious hipster things: drink coffee, enjoy art, listen to music, and drop a mixtape or two.

 Tutor Chase

Hello there! My name is Chase and I’m majoring in mathematics, with a minor in theater. I was born in Coeur d’Alene and grew up in Nampa, but went to high school in Lewiston, Idaho. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy limnoecology, collecting old cameras, actuarial science, and fishing. At eleven years old I was a prodigy fly tyer and even taught classes to others. In 2016, I won a Certificate of Merit for Best Director at the LCSC Humanifest. One day I hope to become a playwright.

 Tutor Damien

Welcome! My name is Damien and I am majoring in chemistry. I grew up in northern Texas but eventually moved to Orofino, Idaho and attended Orofino High School. Go Maniacs! When I’m not tutoring in the lab, I work as a crew leader for the Boehls Cabin CPTPA Wildland Fire Crew during the summer months. I recently received an HERC grant to fund research regarding air quality in the LC valley; along with math and science, research is another one of my passions.

 Tutor Gates

Gates here! Yes, my name is Gates, and I’m majoring in elementary education here at LCSC. I am from St. Maries, Idaho, home to the St. Joe River, which happens to be the highest navigable river in the world. One day I hope to pursue a career as a civil engineer technician or surveyor.

 Tutor Jesse

Greetings! My name is Jesse and I am double majoring in computer science and mathematics. It is my goal to become a software engineer someday. I was born and raised right here in Lewiston! I’m not hard to miss when I’m in the tutoring lab, seeing as I’m 6’8”. However, when I’m not tutoring, I’ll most likely be doing some computer programming or gaming.

 Tutor Jiahong

Hi everyone, I’m Jiahong! I graduated from Lewis-Clark State College in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry. I enjoy all things chemistry! I am from Kunming, Yunnan, China. Kunming, Yunnan, China is famous for the beautiful weather and has earned the nickname, “Spring City”. I play two Chinese musical instruments called Pipa and Hulusi. Many of the locals from my hometown even eat flowers! I’ve been fortunate enough to visit 12 countries already and someday I want to travel the world.

 Tutor Kate

Whats up! This is Kate, and I’m majoring in mathematics and minoring in secondary education. I have made the President’s list every semester here at LC. It is my goal to be an international high school math teacher someday. I’m from Cascade, Idaho but have traveled all over; so far I’ve been to Canada, Switzerland, and Chile. When I’m not tutoring, you can find me napping, doing math, taking selfies, or hanging out with Sav!

My hometown is Leonard, North Dakota, where there are more cows than people. My pet leopard gecko lives with my family there. When I’m not tutoring you’ll probably find me napping, watching Grey’s Anatomy, or eating lasagna.

 Tutor Madeline V

 Tutor Rebecca

Hello, I’m Rebecca! Call me Rebecca or Becca, it doesn’t matter to me. My major is elementary education with a literacy minor. In the future, I would like to teach either first or second grade in the Sandpoint school district, following in the footsteps of my mom. I was the valedictorian of my graduating high school class and not only maintained a position in an honor society then, but two others throughout my college career. Before I transferred to LCSC, I won the 2016 5A Girls Team Championship in high school and even bowled at the collegiate level for Weber State University. When I’m not tutoring, I really enjoy spending time with my family. We have ten pet rabbits (even though I’ve always wanted a dog) and often do things together outdoors.

 Tutor Savannah

Hello! Savannah here, but you can call me Sav! Here at LC, I’m majoring in mathematics and minoring in physical science. Originally, I’m from a small city called Taft, California. Not only can I help you with your math assignments, I can name all 50 states and their capitals! When I’m not tutoring, I like to play video games, watch youtube videos, travel, and hang out with Kate!

 Tutor Zach

Yo! My name is Zach and my major is in business administration, my minor is in computer science. I don’t quite know yet what career I want to pursue after graduation, but I’m open to suggestions while I’m figuring it out! I’m from right here in Lewiston, which is an awesome city but unfortunately doesn’t smell that great (due to the local paper mill). Even with the smell, I’ve managed to make the President’s List every semester here at LCSC. When I’m not tutoring, I like to spend time traveling; I’ve been to 47 states so far! I also have a radio show and spend time doing stand-up comedy.

Coordinator Suzanne

Suzanne Rousseau, Coordinator

This is my sixth year teaching at LCSC. I started as an adjunct instructor in August of 2012, and quickly worked my way up. I started working as a full-time instructor and also become the Coordinator for the Math and Science Tutoring Center in January, 2015. I divide my time at work between teaching and running the tutoring center. When I’m not working, I often spend a lot of time reading, cooking, or doing things with my nieces. Together, my nieces and I have spent time painting, playing hide and seek, and hunting rocks for LC Valley Rocks.

Although I don’t have set hours in the tutoring center, I sometimes spend my office hours there tutoring. Anytime I’m in my office, please feel free to come by and either ask a quick question or ask me to come to the tutoring center and assist you. I’m always happy to help!
