Meet The Tutors

 Tutor Chase

Hello there! My name is Chase and I’m majoring in mathematics, with a minor in theater. I was born in Coeur d’Alene and grew up in Nampa, but went to high school in Lewiston, Idaho. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy limnoecology, collecting old cameras, actuarial science, and fishing. At eleven years old I was a prodigy fly tyer and even taught classes to others. In 2016, I won a Certificate of Merit for Best Director at the LCSC Humanifest. One day I hope to become a playwright.

 Tutor Damien

Welcome! My name is Damien and I am majoring in chemistry. I grew up in northern Texas but eventually moved to Orofino, Idaho and attended Orofino High School. Go Maniacs! When I’m not tutoring in the lab, I work as a crew leader for the Boehls Cabin CPTPA Wildland Fire Crew during the summer months. I recently received an HERC grant to fund research regarding air quality in the LC valley; along with math and science, research is another one of my passions.

 Tutor Gates

Gates here! Yes, my name is Gates, and I’m majoring in elementary education here at LCSC. I am from St. Maries, Idaho, home to the St. Joe River, which happens to be the highest navigable river in the world. I've spent time working as on a commercial salmon fishing boat in Alaska and first started fishing when I was 14 years old. One day I hope to be an elementary school teacher and a commercial salmon fisherman.

 Tutor Jason

Hello! My name is Jason and I am a Medically Retired Army Critical Care and Flight Nurse. I grew up in Mokena, Illinois, and joined the military in 1995. I was in the Army Infantry, then did a stint in the Coast Guard, before joining an Illinois National Guard Air Assault Infantry unit. I then earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2008, and did a Direct Commission into the Army Nurse Corps. I have had the privilege of serving with many fine men and women from the U.S. and many other countries as well. When I’m not tutoring, I love to spend time with my kids (2 and 4 year of ages), playing the tin whistle, fly-fishing, bird hunting, and biking. One day I hope to pursue a career as a civil engineer technician or surveyor.

 Tutor Kate

Whats up! This is Kate, and I’m majoring in mathematics and minoring in secondary education. I have made the President’s list every semester here at LC. It is my goal to be an international high school math teacher someday. I’m from Cascade, Idaho but have traveled all over; so far I’ve been to Canada, Switzerland, and Chile. When I’m not tutoring, you can find me napping, doing math, taking selfies, or hanging out with Sav!

 Tutor Madeleine H

Madeleine H.

Hi everybody, I’m Madeleine! I’m currently undecided on my minor, but I am double majoring in psychology and criminal justice. My dream job would in the field of forensic psychology. My hometown is Leonard, North Dakota, where there are more cows than people. My pet leopard gecko lives with my family there. When I’m not tutoring you’ll probably find me napping, watching Grey’s Anatomy, or eating lasagna.

 Tutor Rachel

What’s up everybody! My name is Rachel and studying to earn a bachelor's degree in mathematics and an associates degree in engineering. I’m from Lewiston, Idaho and am the only girl amongst seven brothers. Here at LC, I act as the president of the engineering club. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy listening to music, snowboarding, and wakeboarding.

 Tutor Rebecca

Hello, I’m Rebecca! Call me Rebecca or Becca, it doesn’t matter to me. My major is elementary education with a literacy minor. In the future, I would like to teach either first or second grade in the Sandpoint school district, following in the footsteps of my mom. I was the valedictorian of my graduating high school class and not only maintained a position in an honor society then, but two others throughout my college career. Before I transferred to LCSC, I won the 2016 5A Girls Team Championship in high school and even bowled at the collegiate level for Weber State University. When I’m not tutoring, I really enjoy spending time with my family. We have ten pet rabbits (even though I’ve always wanted a dog) and often do things together outdoors.

Coordinator Suzanne

Suzanne Rousseau, Coordinator

This is my sixth year teaching at LCSC. I started as an adjunct instructor in August of 2012, and quickly worked my way up. I started working as a full-time instructor and also become the Coordinator for the Math and Science Tutoring Center in January, 2015. I divide my time at work between teaching and running the tutoring center. When I’m not working, I often spend a lot of time reading, cooking, or doing things with my nieces. Together, my nieces and I have spent time painting, playing hide and seek, and hunting rocks for LC Valley Rocks.

Although I don’t have set hours in the tutoring center, I sometimes spend my office hours there tutoring. Anytime I’m in my office, please feel free to come by and either ask a quick question or ask me to come to the tutoring center and assist you. I’m always happy to help!
