Kinesiology with Teacher Certification in PE & Health Teaching Endorsements in PE K-12 & Health 6-12

Introduction and Overview

Students majoring in Kinesiology: Secondary Education PE/Health will prepare for a State of Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with endorsements in Physical Education grades K-12 and Health education grades 6-12.  The major includes several courses with hands-on, practical experiences, in addition to a full semester of student-teaching in both PE and health classroom environments.

Students in this major must apply to and be accepted into the Teacher Education program in order to progress into the upper-level educational pedagogy of strategies, methods, and classroom management.  Students must also pass the required Praxis II content assessments in both Physical Education and Health Education.

Students in the Teacher Education program are expected to provide evidence through performance that they have become dedicated and knowledgeable professionals, content specialists, competent educational designers, capable educational facilitators, insightful educational evaluators, reflective professionals, and culturally responsive professionals before being recommended for teacher certification.

Secondary Education majors must have a content area advisor and a Secondary Education advisor.
