History: The first NAIA national baseball tournament championship was
held in 1957 at Alpine, Texas.  Since then, the tournament has
been played at Sioux City, Ia.; St. Jospeh, Mo.; Phoenix, Az.; Nashville, Tenn.; Lubbock, Tex.; Des Moines, Ia.; Tulsa, Okla,; Juniper, Fla,; and Lewiston, Idaho.  Lewis-Clark State College
 has won the championship 12 times and holds tournament
records for most games won ( )  and most appearances(21).
In the 2002 championship game, Lewis-Clark State defeated Oklahoma City,  12-8.
 
The NAIA: 234 institutions sponsor baseball at the intercollegiate level
 
How teams
qualify:
Qualification for the National baseball tournament begins at the regional level, where each of the association's 14 regions declare
a champion through a double elimination tournament.   Regional
champions then advance to seven, two-team, best-of-three 
Super Regional tournament to determine the representative to the National tournament.  The At-Large team is the highest-ranked
team  (in the NAIA May 7 rating) that loses in the Super Regional.
