LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History (CAH) is announcing a Call for Artists for the first annual CAH Plein Air Competition. In the Vineyard Plein Air competition features five days of painting plein air in area vineyards during the period of August 2 - 8. The exhibition will run August 15 – October 4.
There is a $25 early bird entry fee for artists, which includes their first three pieces of artwork to be entered into the juried event. Each additional piece entered is $10. The entry fee will increase to $35 after August 1. Juried prizes include three cash awards along with a $500 grand prize and more.
Plein air paint outs will take place at the vineyards of the following local wineries: Colter’s Creek, Clearwater Canyon Cellars, Lindsay Creek Vineyards, and Basalt Cellars. There will also be the opportunity for additional workshops and side events. Dates for paint outs are August 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8, and will include host artists Jan Vogtman, Kelsey Grafton, Dana Aldis, David Berry, and Beth A. Rimmelspacher. All artists participating in the event are encouraged to attend at least three of the five paint outs.
Awards will be presented at the opening reception at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 14 at CAH. The exhibit will be showcased September 26 during the Beautiful Downtown Lewiston Art Walk, which brings over 1,000 guests through the Center’s doors.

The mission of Center for Arts & History is to educate and engage the community in an appreciation of culture, history, and the arts. CAH provides common ground for the integration of all art. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
