LEWISTON, Idaho – Are you strong enough to walk a mile in her shoes? LCSC will be sponsoring the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes walk on Wednesday, April 29. Signups will begin at 11:40 a.m. in front of the Student Union Building, with the event taking place at noon. Registration is free and open to the public.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international event that asks men to walk in women's high-heeled shoes in order to raise awareness about gender violence. This is a fun and unique opportunity to draw attention to a very serious issue in our community.
Although high-heeled shoes are encouraged, they are not required.
The national Walk a Mile in Her Shoes organization notes the event “helps men better understand and appreciate women’s experiences, thus changing perspectives, helping improve gender relationships and decreasing the potential for violence.”
The event is presented by the YWCA and LCSC and will begin with a kickoff speech by Dr. Andy Hanson, Vice President for Student Affairs at LCSC.
