Juried Watercolor Exhibition to open with reception and awards ceremony

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History and Palouse Watercolor Socius are holding the  2017 Juried Watercolor Exhibition with Juror Gloria Miller Allen’s artwork featured in a coinciding exhibition. An artist reception and award ceremony will be held Friday, June 2, at 5 p.m. at the Center, located at 415 Main Street in Lewiston.

The exhibit runs June 2–July 29.

Watercolor works in this showcase were juried by Allen of Idaho Falls, and feature 63 paintings by 40 artists from throughout Idaho, Washington and Oregon. There is a $1,000 grand prize, along prizes for  $750 and $500 that will be announced during the award ceremony.

Allen has had her work in more than 60 national and international exhibitions. She holds signature membership in the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, to name a few. She has taught watercolor for over 30 years.

Allen also will instruct a four-day workshop called “Powerful Tools for Powerful Paintings.” It will run Sunday-Tuesday, June 3-6, at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Center. The cost of the workshop is $350.

Exhibitions are sponsored by Avista and brought to the Center through grants from US Bank and artsIDAHO.
