Two exhibits open Aug. 3 at Center for Arts & History

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History is featuring a pair of exhibits by local artists that start on Aug. 3 and will run through early September.

The River & Vines Plein Air Exhibition features a collection of work from new and veteran plein air artists who took part in paint outs and socials in area vineyards and venues with river views in the Lewis-Clark Valley on June 17-24. The exhibit runs through Sept. 3 and will feature an awards ceremony and artist reception on Aug. 3 starting at 5 p.m. at the Center, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston. Juried and cash prizes of $500, $300, and $100 will be awarded during the social at 6 p.m. Recognized watercolor artist Gloria Miller Allen of Idaho Falls is the juror.

The second exhibit is by Noah Kroese, a Moscow freelance illustrator. His exhibit, which runs through Sept. 9, features his comic strip style illustrations from his book “Saturday” along with other pieces of his work. Kroese grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from the University of Idaho in 2004. His illustration clients range from NASA to World Wrestling Entertainment.

An artist reception for Kroese will be held Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. at the Center. He will hold an artist talk and slide show starting at 6 p.m., where he will explain the process and motivation for his book along with the challenges he faced and insights he gained from the experience.

The Rivers & Vines Plein Air Exhibition is sponsored by ClearView Eye Clinic, Tomato Bros., Mystic Cafe, and Zany Graze. Partnerships for the exhibition include Colter’s Creek Vineyard and Winery, 2 Bad Labs Vineyard & Tammany View Winery, Spiral Rock Vineyard, and Hells Gate State Park.

Both exhibits are brought the Center by Inland 360 and through grant funding from US Bank and artsIDAHO.
