SBDC schedules five workshops, including one on Google Online

LEWISTON, Idaho – A free Google workshop that will feature Corissa Saint Laurent, a speaker for Google’s Get Your Business Online program, is one of the classes being offered by the North Central Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College during January and February.

The Google Workshop is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 1:30-3 p.m. in Sacajawea Hall Room 115 on the LCSC campus. The workshop will help business owners make the most of their websites and show them how to share their stories through video.

Although this workshop is free, pre-registration is required. At least 50 people must be pre-registered for Laurent to make the trip to Lewiston from Portland, Ore., so anyone interested is asked to pre-register now. The remaining four January workshops listed below will, unless otherwise noted, be held at the SBDC office, located at 406 Main St. in Lewiston. Pre-registration is required for each workshop.

A marketing workshop on “Doing Business with The Government” will be offered in both Orofino and Lewiston. The Orofino workshop is Jan. 22 at 8:30 a.m..-12:30 p.m. and will be held at 1051 Michigan Ave. This free workshop will be offered a day later in Lewiston at the same time. The workshop will cover the requirements for doing government contracting, the assistance available from Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, the Small Business Administration’s role in government contracting, and contracting with the Idaho Transportation Department and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program. A federal government contracting officer will also provide details for contracting with agencies.

Also on Jan. 23, the workshop “What You Must Know About Business” will be held at 5:30-8 p.m. in Lewiston. This workshop has a $20 fee and will be taught by Barbara Leachman, regional director of the North Central Idaho SDBC. The workshop is for both newer and experienced entrepreneurs and business owners. The workshop will cover key resources, feasibility, communicating the business value, and what every entrepreneur and small business owner should know.

A “Leading Employees” workshop is scheduled for Jan. 30 at 5:30-8 p.m. The fee is $20 and the workshop will be taught by Leachman, who will cover what employers need to know about the hiring, training, maturation, documentation, taxes and firing of employees.
