Idaho Division of CTE honors LCSC’s Hospitality Management program

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College’s Hospitality Management program has been recognized as a 2018 Program of Promise by the Idaho Division of Career & Technical Education, the state agency has announced.

The program will be honored at the annual Idaho Career & Technical Education Reach Professional Development Conference in Boise. The presentation, which will include a $500 check awarded to the program, will take place during the Awards Dinner & Celebration on July 31 at the Idaho Botanical Gardens. Rodney Farrington, a professor in the LCSC Hospitality Management program, will represent LCSC at the ceremony to accept the honor and the check.

The Hospitality Management program at LCSC offers one-year certificates and two and four year degrees for students who will receive certified training in food and beverage management, and room division management.

The Program of Promise is a new award to acknowledge and recognize programs that have demonstrated growth and innovation in improving their programs, outreach, and connection to CTE and its industry.

According to Adrian San Miguel, director of postsecondary education with the Idaho Division of Career & Technical Education, the work Farrington is doing to connect LCSC’s program with national trends is something the awards selection committee wanted to highlight and honor.

Jeffrey Ober, dean of LCSC’s Career & Technical Education, and Joni Mina, chair of the Business Technology & Service Division, nominated the program for the honor through an application process.
