Mission and Goals
Program Mission In accordance
with the mission of Lewis-Clark State College, the Division of Nursing exists to provide
baccalaureate education for basic and Registered Nurse students who are seeking to develop
as professional nurses. Through a dynamic and innovative curriculum, the nursing faculty
stimulates a commitment to lifelong learning, challenging students to pursue academic
excellence and to provide high-quality, professional nurse caring.
The purposes of the Nursing Division include:
Prepare nurses for generalist practice in a
variety of settings based on Professional Nurse Caring and professional roles including:
provider, designer/manager/coordinator of care, and member of the profession.
Provide a foundation for advanced
educational preparation.
Stimulate in students a thirst for
professional growth and life-long learning.
Contribute to the well-being of the rural
population in our service area through advocacy and leadership activities.
Prepare graduates who are sensitive to human
diversity in an ever-changing global environment.
Program Goals/Objectives The goals/objectives are derived
from the program mission and philosophy. Upon completion of the BSN program, students
will have demonstrated the ability to:

Provide professional nurse caring to promote, maintain, and
palliate or restore the health of individuals, families, groups, and communities in
structured and less-structured settings.

Apply critical thinking skills to synthesize knowledge from
nursing, biological sciences, social sciences and humanities for the delivery of care to
individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Integrate principles of leadership, advocacy, and
professional values/standards into professional nursing roles.

Utilize communication abilities to promote the well being of
individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Apply knowledge of human diversity in the care of
