Health Notification ~ 2012-2013
_____________________________________________________________________
Immunizations Recommended
Lewis-Clark State College places a high
priority on preventing the spread of infectious diseases such as
influenza,
meningitis,
MRSA,
pertussis (whooping cough)
,
HPV,
Hepatitis B,
Measles/Mumps/Rubella,
chicken pox,
tuberculosis
and
scabies.
To promote the health and well-being of
the campus community, Student Health Services offers preventive
information on these diseases, as well as supplying many
immunizations that are available for specific diseases. Although
Lewis-Clark State College does not require students to have
vaccinations as a condition of enrollment, we strongly encourage
these vaccinations to protect the students, staff and faculty of
this campus community.
Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and the Vaccines that Prevent Them
please review for descriptions or go to
www.cdc.gov.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
(ACIP)
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC)
and American College Health Association guidelines has recommended
that college freshman living in dormitories receive the
meningococcal
vaccine.
Due to the recent rise in
pertussis (whooping cough)
across the nation and in Washington State (April 2012-present), the
CDC is also recommending vaccination with
Tdap
to protect individuals.
Please visit
College Students & Young Adults
page for CDC recommendation(s).
